On August 18, 2022, Tallahassee Police and U.S. Marshals Service officers went to a home on the 2900 block of Byington Circle to arrest 62-year-old Frank Copson, who had failed to appear in court on multiple felony charges. When officers attempted to apprehend him he barricaded himself inside the residence with a firearm, prompting a standoff that lasted more than 11 hours. Police evacuated nearby homes and attempted to negotiate with Copson throughout the night. According to the Tallahassee Police Department, tactical teams entered the home and continued negotiation efforts. Early on August 19, 2022, officers found Copson in a bathroom; he had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Law enforcement confirmed the death was a suicide during the police encounter.

On 06/23/2022, the Orlando Police Department’s Fugitive Investigative Unit and U.S. Marshals Service responded to the Mosaic at Millenia apartments on Conroy Road for a felony suspect reported to be inside. Officers made contact and the subject, later identified as 36-year-old Michael Green (also known as Michael Edwards), barricaded himself inside an apartment and made suicidal threats during the encounter. SWAT and crisis negotiation teams spent more than five hours attempting to get Green to surrender. When officers entered the apartment at approximately 7:24 p.m., they found Green deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police did not fire their weapons during the incident. Green had been wanted out of Albany County, New York after fleeing before the verdict was read in his attempted murder and weapons conviction. On 12/08/2021, members of the U.S. Marshals Service's Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) served an arrest warrant for a person wanted for aggravated robbery at a residence in the 2700 block of Fourseasons Drive in Columbus, Ohio.

While the individual named in the warrant was being taken into custody, 18-year-old Donta R. Stewart, who was not involved in the warrant, allegedly began firing at officers from a nearby closet, striking a deputy U.S. Marshal in the upper torso. Officers opened fire, critically injuring Stewart. He was transported to Mount Carmel Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The injured deputy was taken to Grant Medical Center in stable condition and was expected to survive.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office Detective Bureau, with assistance from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, conducted an investigation into the incident. In November 2022, a Franklin County grand jury cleared the officers involved.

On November 23, 2021, at approximately 9:00 a.m., a Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a motorcycle near the intersection of LA-700 and Shelly Road in Kaplan, Louisiana, due to the rider not wearing a helmet. The motorcyclist, identified as 43-year-old Kelly Vaughn (also known as Kelly Griffin), did not provide identification and reportedly gave false information regarding his identity. Police alleged that he retrieved a handgun from his saddlebag; however, they admitted that he did not threaten them. Officers drew their firearms, and Vaughn fled on foot into a dense grassy field. Law enforcement established a perimeter, and the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office Special Response Team, along with Louisiana State Police, deployed aerial drones to locate him. Negotiators demanded his surrender, but Vaughn responded by firing shots at the drones and stated he would end his life rather than be taken to jail. At approximately 4:24 p.m., many hours after the standoff began, Vaughn died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound during the SWAT standoff. It is unknown whether he had committed any crimes, as police did not comment further.

On June 24, 2021, at approximately 7:25 p.m., Pitt County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at 5505 River Creek Drive in Washington, North Carolina. Deputies encountered 48-year-old Chad Necessary, who was reportedly armed with multiple firearms. During the encounter, Necessary allegedly pointed a loaded gun at one deputy and then at his wife. Believing that Necessary was about to shoot his wife, Deputy Doug Dolenti discharged his firearm, striking Necessary three times: once in the hip, once in the thigh, and once in the torso.

During the altercation, Necessary turned his weapon on himself and fired a single gunshot to his head. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No deputies were injured.
