On July 1, 2021, Spotsylvania deputies, Orange officers, and deputy U.S. Marshals went to a home to arrest a man wanted on probation violation charges from Dinwiddie and Colonial Heights, as well as pending gun- and theft-related charges in Orange County and Spotsylvania. Upon police arrival, the man allegedly fired multiple shots at officers. A deputy returned fire before the man barricaded himself inside the house. Police spent several hours attempting to negotiate with the man, but he reportedly started a fire inside the house, which resulted in his death from burns and smoke inhalation.

On June 30, 2021, U.S. Marshals attempted to serve multiple arrest warrants for 33-year-old Jeremy Andrew Nelson at a residence on Garden Drive in Florence, Kentucky. Upon contact, Nelson allegedly fired a weapon at the officers. A brief standoff ensued, during which Nelson reportedly displayed a firearm again. In response, officers discharged their weapons, fatally wounding Nelson. The incident is under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.

On June 24, 2021, at approximately 7:25 p.m., Pitt County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at 5505 River Creek Drive in Washington, North Carolina. Deputies encountered 48-year-old Chad Necessary, who was reportedly armed with multiple firearms. During the encounter, Necessary allegedly pointed a loaded gun at one deputy and then at his wife. Believing that Necessary was about to shoot his wife, Deputy Doug Dolenti discharged his firearm, striking Necessary three times: once in the hip, once in the thigh, and once in the torso.

During the altercation, Necessary turned his weapon on himself and fired a single gunshot to his head. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No deputies were injured. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation reviewed the incident, including body-worn camera footage and witness statements. An autopsy confirmed four gunshot wounds, including the self-inflicted shot. The Pitt County District Attorney's Office concluded the use of deadly force was justified under North Carolina law, and no charges were filed against the deputies.

On June 8, 2021, Gary Anthony Creek, 39, was wanted on multiple warrants, including charges of first-degree murder in connection with the death of Brandy Price. On June 3, 2021, members of a U.S. Marshals Service task force attempted to arrest 32-year-old Winston Boogie Smith Jr. on an outstanding warrant for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. The arrest took place in a parking ramp near West Lake Street in Minneapolis. During the encounter, Smith was reportedly uncooperative and produced a handgun. Officers fired at Smith, fatally wounding him. The incident led to protests and civil unrest in the Minneapolis area. An investigation by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension concluded that the officers' use of deadly force was legally justified.

On June 2, 2021, U.S. Marshals shot and killed 28-year-old Clayton Wayne Barbee in Cartwright, Oklahoma. Barbee was wanted on multiple counts from several counties in Texas and Oklahoma, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, along with the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, U.S. Marshals, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, went to a trailer to attempt to arrest Arnold Frazier Hager Jr. Hager was wanted for eight counts of sexual battery on a child in Maryland. When officers arrived, they used a PA system to order Hager to exit the trailer. Hager fired a gun from the trailer before coming out with a black semiautomatic handgun in his hand. Officers from FDLE and JSO shot and killed him.

On 05/26/2021, an hours-long standoff occurred at 1454 Union Street in Manchester, New Hampshire. Benjamin James Bennett had barricaded himself inside the home, leading to a heavy police presence, including the U.S. Marshals Service and Manchester Police Department. Gunfire was reported during the standoff. When police eventually entered the home, they found Bennett deceased, having reportedly killed himself with a gun.

On April 9, 2021, U.S. Deputy Marshals responded to a residence on the 300 block of North Hampton Road in Springfield, Ohio, at sunrise to arrest 50-year-old Douglas C. Barton. Barton was wanted for allegedly threatening a judge.

On March 24, 2021, U.S. Marshals and other law enforcement officers arrived at a residence in the 1700 block of Regent Avenue NE in Canton, Ohio, to apprehend 33-year-old Aaron Pierre Thomas, who was wanted for armed robbery and aggravated assault in Danville, Virginia.

Thomas allegedly attempted to escape through a window before exiting the front door and opening fire on the officers. During the exchange, a U.S. Marshal was injured. Officers opened fire, striking Thomas. Both the injured officer and Thomas were transported to a nearby hospital. The officer was treated and released, while Thomas remained hospitalized in critical condition.

The incident was investigated by the Stark County Prosecutor's Office, which presented the case to a grand jury. The grand jury declined to indict the officers involved. Approximately six months later, Thomas died from his injuries sustained during the shooting.

On March 24, 2021, U.S. Marshals and Phoenix Police officers responded to a call regarding a man who had fled a Home Depot after allegedly stealing tools. A witness followed the individual, and a collision occurred as the vehicle continued to flee. U.S. Marshals and local officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the man drove erratically and headed westbound on U.S. 60, entering Phoenix. After a brief pursuit, the vehicle stopped near 24th Street and Jefferson Street. When officers attempted to approach, the individual allegedly moved toward them, and officers shot and killed him.

On March 23, 2021, the Montana Highway Patrol attempted to stop Christopher Eric Cook near Laurel, but he fled along Interstate 90 into Stillwater County. The chase involved U.S. Marshals and the Stillwater County Sheriff's Office. Cook eventually stopped his vehicle around 11 a.m. near mile marker 399, leading to the closure of the westbound lanes. After exiting his vehicle, Cook reportedly walked away, turned towards law enforcement, and brandished a gun. Despite commands to surrender, he was shot and killed by two deputies.

On March 23, 2021, U.S. Marshals attempted to arrest 32-year-old Frankie Jennings at a gas station in Charlotte, North Carolina. Jennings was wanted on multiple warrants, including assault with a deadly weapon against law enforcement and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. During the attempted arrest, Jennings reportedly reached for a firearm inside his vehicle. Senior Inspector Eric Tillman fired three shots, fatally wounding Jennings. The Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Office later determined that the use of deadly force was justified.

On March 5, 2021, U.S. Marshals attempted to arrest 44-year-old Justin Lynn at the Comfort Inn in Odessa, Texas, for a federal bond violation related to methamphetamine distribution. On 02/04/2021, officers were searching for Dontae Green after he allegedly shot at officers at a grocery store in North Baltimore due to a dispute over his paycheck. Green was wanted on 19 charges, including attempted murder, armed robbery, and handgun violations. While police were clearing a residence associated with Green in the 1400 block of N. Mount Street, he allegedly fired at them from inside a closet. Officers returned fire, resulting in Green's death. During the incident, one deputy U.S. Marshal was seriously injured.
