On 11/01/2025, Padmini Waldron, age 47, was found dead alongside her husband in their DeLand home at 9097 Cape Cod Road. Investigators determined her husband shot her and then killed himself, making this a case of murder-suicide. The couple had been married for 12 years.

On 10/31/2025, Wichita police attempted to stop a vehicle in east Wichita after identifying 16-year-old Dreshawn Hardyway, who was reportedly violating probation conditions. Hardyway fled in a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu with several passengers. The pursuit ended when the vehicle collided with a 2021 Chrysler Voyager near 8th Street and Edgemoor Street. Hardyway was transported to Wesley Medical Center and died from his injuries on 11/03/2025.

On October 31, 2025 at approximately 2:45 p.m., an off-duty deputy of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office was placing his child in his vehicle when Darrius Williams, 27, reportedly attempted to enter the deputy’s vehicle. The deputy gave multiple verbal commands; when Williams allegedly opened the passenger side door, the deputy discharged his firearm, striking Williams multiple times. Williams was transported to a hospital and later pronounced dead. The deputy and his child were unharmed. Investigations by the sheriff’s office and the Harris County District Attorney are ongoing.

On October 31, 2025, deputies from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle on I-20 eastbound near Mile Marker 194, carrying a man possibly involved in a murder from Gwinnett County. A pursuit ensued and the deputies executed a PIT maneuver on the vehicle. The driver then died by suicide at the scene, and the vehicle came to rest in a ditch.

On October 31, 2025 at about 6:30 a.m., the Walton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting and stabbing at a home on Beacon Way in Santa Rosa Beach. A 29-year-old man, Jared Andrew Keller, confronted deputies in the front yard armed first with a knife and then with a firearm after failing verbal commands. Deputies fired, killing Keller. Inside the home, two elderly victims (a brother and sister) had been stabbed; one died, the other was hospitalized and later released. The incident is under investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

On October 29, 2025, 34-year-old Cameron Oberlin was killed during a police pursuit and standoff with Mesa Police Department officers near Sossaman Road and Ray Road in Mesa, Arizona. Officers initially responded in the early morning hours to a trespassing call at a property close to Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, where Oberlin had been asked to leave by a security guard. Oberlin fled in his vehicle and officers initiated a pursuit, deploying a grappler device to stop the car. During the ensuing standoff, Oberlin fired shots from inside his vehicle at officers, striking one in the side. A stray bullet from the chaotic exchange also struck a parked Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deportation plane at Mesa-Gateway Airport, though ICE officials said the aircraft was not damaged and remained airworthy. After about a 30-minute standoff and exchanges of gunfire with police, Oberlin died from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound inside the vehicle. The injured officer was treated and released from the hospital. The East Valley Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the incident.

On 10/27/2025, officers responded to the Super 8 Motel on Golden Key Road in Allentown following reports of an armed man barricaded inside a room. The two officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave and the Polk County Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting.

On October 26, 2025, Morgan Nikolai Stephens, 36, of Burlington, Colorado, died after his 2024 RAM truck veered off the road on Kansas Highway 27 north of Syracuse in Hamilton County, Kansas. During the encounter, a Fort Atkinson police officer discharged his weapon, striking a man inside the residence. A rifle was recovered at the scene. The man was transported by air to a Madison hospital where he later died. The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation is leading the investigation.

On Sunday, October 26, 2025, deputies from the Ross County Sheriff’s Office responded to a “disorderly complaint” around 3 p.m. along State Route 180, approximately half-mile west of Zane Trace High School near Chillicothe, Ohio. On October 25, 2025, deputies with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department attempted to stop a motorcyclist near Highway 111 and Deep Canyon Road in Palm Desert. The driver did not stop, and deputies chased the motorcycle at high speed. The pursuit ended when the motorcyclist ran a red light and crashed into a bystander’s vehicle at the intersection of Country Club Drive and John L. Sinn Road in Rancho Mirage. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

On 10/25/2025 at approximately 8:30 p.m., officers with the Minot Police Department pursued a 21-year-old man following reports of felony domestic violence. The driver continued west on County Road 14 before turning onto a gravel road, where his vehicle entered a ditch and rolled. He was transported to Trinity Hospital in Minot and later pronounced dead. The North Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

On 10/25/2025, 34-year-old Jacob E. Prichard killed his wife, Jaymee M. Prichard, 33, and his coworker, Jaime S. Gustitus, 25, before driving to the parking lot of the West Milton Municipal Building on State Road 48. There, Prichard placed his wife’s body in the trunk of his vehicle and fatally shot himself. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is conducting the investigation.

On 10/25/2025, around 1 a.m., Fairfield police responded to a welfare check regarding a woman walking in the roadway on County Road 606 in Fairfield, Texas. While an officer was speaking with the woman, a pickup truck came from a nearby oil field area and collided head-on with the officer’s patrol vehicle. The driver exited the truck, and during the encounter, the officer opened fire, striking him. The man was taken to Freestone Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. On 10/23/2025, 8 year old Ryver Hendrix Russell died after a marked Baytown Police Department patrol vehicle driven by Officer Michael Hightower struck the family minivan at West Baker Road and Country Club Drive in Baytown. Ryver’s brother, 10 year old Jude Dylan Russell, was also critically injured in the same crash and later died. Baytown police said Hightower was on duty and responding to an in progress person with a weapon call where an officer on scene requested additional units. Reporting and court records say investigators alleged Hightower was speeding and did not have emergency lights or sirens activated at the time of the collision. A Harris County grand jury later indicted Hightower on two counts of manslaughter for the two children’s deaths and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon tied to injuries to another child in the minivan. The indictment reflects that prosecutors presented evidence supporting felony criminal responsibility for the driving conduct described in the charging documents. Hightower surrendered after the indictment and was arrested. Reporting says he remained on medical leave, and no public announcement confirmed he had been fired as of the most recent coverage.
