On 10/18/2025, officers with the Tacoma Police Department responded to a domestic violence call involving a man who had taken a woman hostage at a residence on the 700 block of South 38th Street. Negotiators and SWAT officers spent hours attempting to make contact. Shortly after 1 a.m., police entered and found both the man and the woman suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were transported to hospitals where they died. Police are investigating the case as a murder-suicide.

On 10/17/2025, deputies attempted to contact a wanted individual at an apartment complex on South Telshor Boulevard in Las Cruces. The person barricaded inside and refused to surrender. During the standoff, a fire broke out in the apartment, forcing evacuation of nearby units. After firefighters extinguished the blaze, the individual was found dead inside. No other injuries were reported.
