The driver, identified as 41-year-old David Garcia, sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. A 25-year-old female passenger was also found with gunshot injuries and was transported to a hospital in stable but critical condition. The exact sequence of events leading to the shooting, including who fired the shots that injured the woman, remains under investigation. No officers were injured during the incident. Both the Phoenix and Gilbert Police Departments are conducting separate investigations into the matter.

On February 12, 2025, at approximately 7:50 p.m., Michigan State Police troopers and St. Clair County Sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic violence call in the 4000 block of Dove Road in Port Huron Township. Family members had called 911 regarding a dispute with a 52-year-old male. Upon arrival, the man exited the residence holding a firearm and refused to comply with officers' commands to drop the weapon. A Michigan State Police trooper discharged their weapon, striking the man. The individual was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The findings will be forwarded to the Michigan Attorney General for review.
