Jose Gonzalez Morales was wanted by police and was located, chased and shot to death on the I-10 in East Los Angeles. He reportedly fired at officers during the chase, got out of the car near Eastern Avenue and ran across freeway lanes. Officers shot and killed him on a freeway ramp near a McDonald's.

On Friday around 8:58 a.m.,the Craig PD tried to make contact with a man outside the Cool Water Grille on Victory Way in Craig. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said Christopher Rothermund who was wanted for a $100 municipal bond, ran from police. Officers allege he had a firearm and officers Daniel Molina and Kurtis Luster fired shots at him. He died shortly thereafter.

Ryan T. Moyer was volunteer firefighter whom deputies attempted to stop and chased for a traffic violation on State Highway 28. When he did not stop, Sheboygen County deputies escalated a chase that ended in a massive crash near State Highway 28 and State Highway 144. Moyer died on the scene as a result of the crash.

Officer Tim Unwin responded to an officer needs assistance call early Friday morning near Ronald Reagan in North College Hill and collided with William Kenneth Dunson, killing both. Pennsylvania State Police and Wyomissing PD attempted a traffic stop. Vaughn Perkins was chased until he crashed in a backyard. A 911 caller reported seeing a friend’s pickup that had been stolen several days prior.The caller followed the stolen pickup and provided updated location information to Linn County deputies who located the truck in Tangent, as it drove into a grass field. The pickup crashed into an embankment against a tree near the Calapooia River.The driver, Elijah Lyle Robb, 43, fled on foot towards the river. He jumped in the river and attempted to swim across the strong current, was then witnessed swimming back to the bank, where he became hidden in thick brush hanging over the water." He drowned.

A toddler son of officer Benjamin Bishop’s girlfriend of Centerville PD found the officer’s gun in his residence and shot himself in the head and died. The gun had been left unsecured, fully loaded with a bullet in the chamber in the home. The officer pled guilty in a plea agreement and was sentenced to 7 years in prison in November of 2023.

Seal Beach PD allege that during a traffic stop attempted to pull over a female driver for a traffic violation near the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Fifth Street, a woman switched seats with a male passenger who then fled with an infant in the car. Despite being aware of the infant, police escalated a chase that led to a crash, injuring 8 and killing 1 person. The fleeing driver took off on foot and was tasered and sent to the hospital together with the woman and infant. Their conditions are unknown. Third party motorist Sara Shorteno was killed by the police chase and resulting crash.

On March 28, 2023, Marganne Allen, a 53-year-old state employee, was cycling home from work in Salem, Oregon, when DEA Special Agent Samuel T. Landis ran a stop sign and entered the intersection at High and Leslie Streets, leading to a collision that killed bicyclist Marganne Allen. Allen, who was cycling downhill, at the time suffered fatal injuries. Landis, a DEA agent since 2016, was working with a Salem task force at the time. After months of investigation by the Keizer Police Department, Landis was indicted by a Marion County grand jury on charges of criminally negligent homicide in September 2023.

Testimony from multiple DEA agents and Salem police officers revealed that task force members, including undercover officers, were present at the scene. However, their actions and reasons for involvement remain unclear. Witnesses reported that several plainclothes individuals stood near Landis but did not identify themselves or assist Allen. The Salem Police Department has faced criticism for its handling of the investigation, including the sharing of collision photos outside official channels.

The grand jury proceedings concluded in late August 2023, with Landis facing up to 10 years in prison if convicted. As of November 2024, a judge has indicated charges may be dropped, citing legal concerns about evidence or process.

Benjamin Payton was a 17-year-old high school student at Crosby High School whom Waterbury police saw him in a stolen car around noon parked on Sage Drive. Police apprehended the driver, whom they identified as a 14-year-old boy. Another occupant, a 16-year-old boy, was also taken into custody. Benny Payton ran into Lakewood Lake and was found drowned later.

Michael Nunez was a school teacher who had mental health issues for which his family says the system had failed him. On the day of his death, he suddenly walked out of school, sent random illogical text messages to family who feared his mental status was disintegrating. He ended up in a park, knocking over trash cans, behaving erratically and he was booked into jail with a plan that he would be sent to Parkland Psych ER. His family was finally able to get a mental health warrant and planned to have him hospitalized but found out that he had been released from jail, had landed in someone’s yard and was reportedly armed and trying to enter someone’s residence. Police arrived and shot and killed him 30 minutes after his warrant to send him to mental health had been signed. DeSoto police chief Costa said that he had not been a danger to self or others.

San Antonio PDallege that Palafox shot a man in the leg during an argument. Palafox drove away after the shooting. Police went to Palafox's house off South Mesquite Street. Multiple Lakewood Police cars responded to a report that two teen girls had robbed a mail carrier at gunpoint in the 400 block of South Oak Street. Several items were taken and police found one of the girls at a Grease Monkey about a block away. Police initially said that the girl fired shots toward the officers. Later Monday night, they revised their statement to say that she merely pointed a gun at them. The Sandy Police Department was called to a mental health crisis and found the man walking in the area of 11650 S. Eagle Bend Road. Police said he lived in the area. They allege that they continued to follow him from a distance and then at some point, something took place and the officer shot the man to death. Gloucester County deputies responded to the 7000 block of Ark Road following a report of an armed man trying to break into a home. The deputies encountered a man identified by Virginia State Police on Monday as 52-year-old Willie Dion Giles, who allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired it at the deputies. Deputies shot and killed him.

The family states that Jose and a friend were inside of the Melody market paying for some snacks while his other two friends were outside. A white car with 4 boys pulled in quickly into the parking lot with intentions of running over his friends. Once Jose realized what was happening outside, he ran out shooting at the car who was trying to hit his friend. Jose then ran and was shot by an off-duty officer at least 10 times from his back and shot again once he was already down.

Several teens had been partying at an aunt’s house in Springfield until around 2 a.m, celebrating their mother’s 37th birthday. Byrd’s mother told them to take her Lexus SUV and bring Da’Vant home to Holyoke. All but Byrd had been drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana prior to the crash.

A Chicopee PD officer had tried to stop the car and began chasing it instead when it did not stop. The car was chased into a dangerous curve, crashed into a house that was soon engulfed in flames. Byrd had been in the backseat, was thrown forward and initially survived the crash but was unable to get out and died in the flames.The homeowner had been sleeping on his couch that night when the car came hurtling through a wall at an estimated 86 mph. The homeowner also remained in the ICU and suffered multiple internal and traumatic brain injuries as he had become trapped under the car and rubble inside of his home.

Billings PD state in the 4600 block of Western Sky Drive at around 4:00 p.m., a woman was involved in a disturbance before shooting a firearm in the air and taking someone’s vehicle without permission. Police found the vehicle on King Avenue West and tried to conduct a traffic stop, but Not Afraid did not stop.
During that chase, she hit two un-involved vehicles near Main Street and Lake Elmo Drive, severely damaging her vehicle.She was surrounded by 10 officers per eyewitness who created a standoff. She refused to exit the car. SWAT deployed gas into the car. Not Afraid exited with a gun at that point and was shot and killed by officer Christopher Etter.

Deputies from the Dickson County Sheriff's office responded to a welfare check in the 1000 block of Potter Road on Mark Engele. They arrived at the scene and he retreated into a home. He then fired at the deputies and struck one deputy in the arm. Mark Engele was shot and killed.
