On 09/13/2025, deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office located 18-year-old Michael Jocoboni on Vicki Lane in Minden. Jocoboni was wanted on probation violations and had cut off his ankle monitor. As deputies moved to arrest him, he produced a handgun, stolen from his father, and shot himself in the head. He was airlifted to a Reno hospital where he died from his injuries.

On 09/13/2025, Maine State Police received reports of a vehicle driving erratically southbound on Interstate 295 near Yarmouth. Deputies with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a suspicious person in the St. Augustine South neighborhood. The man, identified as Bradd Sweeny, was holding a gun when confronted by deputies. He did not comply with commands, and deputies opened fire, killing him. Around 7:25 p.m., police in Wyoming responded after family members reported a man was intoxicated and making threats to harm himself inside a home on the 6200 block of Forest Boulevard Trail. Other occupants safely left the house. When police arrived, the man fired shots from inside the residence, some striking nearby homes. Authorities issued a shelter-in-place order and called in SWAT teams and mutual aid units. Tactical teams deployed drones, and just after 11:00 p.m., the man was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

On 09/09/2025, Bracken County Sheriff’s deputies went to a home on East Augusta-Chatham Road in Brooksville to perform a welfare check on Justin Gillespie, 34. A deputy was speaking with Gillespie on the front porch when Gillespie ran inside the house. Deputies chased after him to the back door. As he was trying to exit through the back door, police engaged him in an altercation, and a deputy discharged his agency-issued weapon, striking Gillespie. EMS attempted life-saving measures, but Gillespie died at the scene. Kentucky State Police are investigating the shooting.
