On February 3, 2021, at approximately 3:51 p.m., Pomona Police Department officers attempted to stop a 1990 maroon Honda Accord for a vehicle code violation near San Antonio Avenue and Ninth Street. The driver, later identified as 22-year-old Eli Richard Machado Lopez, did not stop. Po.lice escalated a chase that reached speeds of up to 106 mph.
Police claim they "called off the chase" just before the driver collided with a Nissan Maxima at the intersection of South San Antonio Avenue and Philadelphia Street. The impact was severe, w.ith Pinto-Mendez sustaining fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the crash site.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is investigating the incident. Pinto-Mendez's father suffered a heart attack upon learning of his son's death.

On February 3, 2021, at approximately 11:00 a.m., agents from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) and deputies from the Granville County Sheriff's Office arrived at 3147 Canady Mill Rd. in Franklinton, North Carolina, to serve an arrest warrant for 52-year-old Anthony Andrew Renuart. The charges against Renuart included first-degree statutory sex offense, four counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, and disseminating obscenities to a minor. The search warrant pertained to the production of child pornography.

On February 2, 2021, a Polk County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a car for a traffic violation. Wayne Keith "Weezie" Smith Jr. reportedly fled when the deputy activated his emergency lights. On January 31, 2021, at approximately 5:20 p.m., the McCurtain County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic assault report involving Franklin Gray, a 39-year-old male. Gray was allegedly restraining his mother on a couch, causing her breathing difficulties. When deputies arrived at the residence in the 1700 block of Lavender Road in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, they encountered Gray outside the home and attempted to arrest him. During the altercation, Gray reportedly tried to take a deputy's firearm, resulting in the weapon discharging. Deputies deployed a taser in an effort to subdue Gray but were unsuccessful. The confrontation escalated, and at least one deputy opened fire, fatally shooting Gray.

On January 30, 2021, at approximately 12:35 a.m., East Cleveland police officers initiated a vehicle pursuit as part of a drug investigation. On January 25, 2021, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Columbus police received reports of a man firing shots at vehicles in the parking lot of a Kroger store located at 5800 West Broad Street. The man, later identified as Jordan Garrett Suydam, 26, was reportedly driving a maroon 2007 Dodge Ram pickup truck.

Shortly thereafter, additional reports indicated that Suydam had fired shots at individuals near Westgate Park and at a woman walking her dog.

At approximately 12:25 p.m., Franklin Township officers spotted Suydam’s vehicle near Frank Road and Harrisburg Pike. A pursuit ensued, with speeds reaching up to 100 mph and Suydam running multiple red lights. The chase continued until officers temporarily lost sight of the vehicle.

Officers then observed smoke emanating from an area near Phillipi Road and Fisher Road. Upon arrival, they found the vehicle overturned and engulfed in flames. Suydam was inside the vehicle, armed with a long-barreled shotgun. As the fire intensified, ammunition inside the vehicle began to explode, preventing officers from safely approaching. Once the fire was extinguished, Suydam was found deceased inside the vehicle.

During the check, shots were fired from outside the club, with at least one bullet striking the building. Officers observed Johnson exchanging gunfire with an unidentified individual. Johnson fled the scene on foot. Officer Nathan Ronan pursued Johnson into a dark alley. Johnson allegedly produced a firearm. Officer Ronan opened fire, striking Johnson. On January 14, 2021, at around 3:15 p.m., the Brooklyn Park Police Department responded to reports of a man walking through yards in the 7500 block of 83rd Avenue. Initially, a caller reported that this man had broken into his home but then fled. On January 13, 2021, at approximately 3:30 a.m., Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) troopers and Oklahoma City Police Department officers escalated a chase of a stolen Lincoln Navigator up to 115 mph. The vehicle was driven by 17-year-old Vinnie Hamlet, the twin brother of Chris Hamlet, with Chris and a 17-year-old female passenger. Troopers used a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) maneuver, directly causing the SUV to flip multiple times and land in a field near Southwest 119th Street and South Meridian Avenue. Vinnie Hamlet was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Chris Hamlet and the female passenger sustained injuries but survived.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol conducted an internal self-investigation. The findings were presented to the District Attorney's Office, which determined that the deadly pursuit was justified.

On January 11, 2021, at approximately 5:16 p.m., Butler County Sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic violence report in the 6800 block of Yoakum Court at the Lakota Pointe Townhomes in Liberty Township. Junius Thomas, had allegedly kicked in the door of a residence, prompting the female occupant to flee and call 911. Upon arrival, deputies found Thomas armed and "extremely agitated." THE SWAT team was deployed. SWAT officers used an armored vehicle to breach the door. Thomas then appeared in the doorway and raised a gun toward the officers, at which point Deputy Ricky Phillips shot and killed Thomas. A subsequent autopsy revealed the presence of methamphetamine in Thomas's system. Four months later, Officer Phillips shot and injured someone during arrest again. A Butler County grand jury reviewed both incidents and declined to issue an indictment, determining that the use of force was justified.

On 01/07/2021, at approximately 6: 20 a.m., members of the Michigan State Police Emergency Support Team were executing a high-risk search warrant at a residence located in the 400 block of East Broad Street, Chesaning, Michigan. The warrant was being served on behalf of the Bay Area Narcotics Enforcement Team (BAYANET). As the troopers approached the front of the house, John R. Neitling confronted them while armed with a gun. In response, the troopers shot and killed him.This was reportedly the third drug raid at his residence in the past five years. An internal investigation found no violation of departmental policies and the officers returned to work. Neitling was described in his obituary as someone who enjoyed fishing, camping, music, and spending time with family and friends, and he worked at Maximum Roofing among other odd jobs. He is survived by his wife, two sons, a stepdaughter, and extended family.
