On February 27, 2021, at approximately 11:00 p.m., a Kentucky State Police trooper conducted a traffic stop in the community of Malone, Kentucky. During the stop, the trooper requested assistance from the Morgan County Sheriff's Department and the West Liberty Police Department. Jerry Lynn Roseberry, a 48-year-old man, exited the vehicle with a firearm and refused commands to drop the weapon. A West Liberty police officer opened fire, striking Roseberry. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Morgan County Coroner. The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the shooting.

Deputies from the Clay County Sheriff's Office responded around 10:50 p.m. to an apartment complex at 2121 Burwick Avenue after receiving multiple calls about shots fired. Deputies arrived approximately five minutes later and encountered Rudy M. Duvivier, who was armed and opened fire on them. The deputies returned fire, shooting and killing Duvivier.

On February 27, 2021, Schertz Police Department officers responded to a report of a deceased individual in the 300 block of Judith Ann Drive. Upon arrival, they found 45-year-old Kristen Slack, of Universal City, dead in the front yard from multiple gunshot wounds. The suspect, 46-year-old Todd Danhof, had locked himself inside the residence. After establishing a perimeter, officers heard a single gunshot from within. Upon entry, they discovered Danhof deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

On February 26, 2021, Officer Dominic J. Winum initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle. Before he could exit his patrol vehicle, the driver, Dakota G. Richards, exited his vehicle and opened fire, killing Officer Winum. Richards fled the scene into nearby woods. Police later found him hiding in a barn. Richards allegedly made a threatening movement, and deputies shot and killed him in response.

On February 26, 2021, around 1 a.m., the Liberty Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting a woman walking on US-27 South in Liberty, Indiana. Officer Lorenzo Shepler arrived and found Maggie Ann Dickerson, 29, standing in the middle of the road. When Officer Shepler approached Dickerson and attempted to move her, she allegedly resisted, leading to a struggle. During the altercation, Dickerson reportedly pulled out a knife and advanced toward the officer, who then shot and killed her.

On 02/26/2021, officers from the Duluth Police Department were called to a residence in response to what they were told was "a physical domestic" incident. The officers were warned that a man wanted on felony warrants was inside and refusing to surrender. A woman also was in the home, but she left when police arrived. Following a lengthy standoff, police shot and killed David Conwell.

On February 26, 2021, Kalispell Police responded to reports of a red SUV ramming multiple vehicles. The vehicle was found unoccupied at a gas station. Isaiah Strong allegedly assaulted Officer Brady Gray inside the gas station after emerging from the bathroom, using a wooden object to strike her. He then attacked another individual in the store before assaulting the officer again, hitting her in the upper body and head. Following this second assault, Officer Gray opened fire, killing Strong, while also shooting and injuring an uninvolved person in the store with police bullets.

On February 26, 2021, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Thomas William Mack, 39, arrived at the residence of his child's mother near Gabriel and Hudson streets in San Antonio, Texas. He allegedly shot a man who emerged from the house. When the first responding officer arrived, Mack reportedly held a firearm, prompting the officer to retreat. Additional officers arrived and maintained a distance while attempting to persuade Mack to drop his weapon. After 15 to 20 minutes, officers attempted to subdue him with a stun gun. Mack allegedly fired twice at the officers, leading five officers to return fire, resulting in his death.

On February 25, 2021, deputies with the Culpeper County Sheriff's Office responded to a welfare check request at a residence on Horseshoe Drive. Upon arrival, officers encountered Donald Francis Hairston in an agitated state. Hairston fled into the home and barricaded himself inside. He later emerged from the house armed with a gun, and shots were fired at the officers. In response, a deputy shot and killed Hairston.

On February 25, 2021, at approximately 11 p.m., a deputy with the Augusta County Sheriff's Office was traveling westbound on VA-42 when he noticed a vehicle approaching quickly from behind. The vehicle tailgated the deputy, passed him on a double-yellow line, and accelerated to 85 mph. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle but began a pursuit when the driver allegedly improperly passed another motorist and drove on the wrong side of the road, reaching speeds of 80-100 mph. The driver lost control of the vehicle, a 1993 Lincoln Town Car driven by Ronald Alvin Colvin, which ran off the road, struck a mailbox, spun across the road, hit a ditch, became airborne, and hit a utility pole. Colvin was killed in the crash.

During the high-speed chase, the fleeing driver collided with a bystander SUV at the intersection of South Garnett Road and East 21st Street. The crash killed Lanise Dade, a 31-year-old Black female, and her 13-year-old daughter, Camyea Dade, who were inside the SUV. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol and Tulsa Police Department are investigating the incident.

On 02/25/2021, around 9: 22 p.m., officers from the Baltimore Police Department's Inner Harbor unit were flagged down in the area of Market and Pratt streets following a non-fatal shooting. One officer provided aid to the victim, while others pursued a man who fled into the Harbor Park Garage. On the ramp into the garage, the man, identified as Benjamin D. Tyson, allegedly turned around, produced a handgun, and attempted to fire it. Multiple officers then shot and killed Tyson.

A person reported to the police station claiming to be a victim of domestic violence and alleged they had been assaulted with a firearm. The victim identified Alonte Murphy as the alleged assailant. Around 5 p.m., police observed Murphy arriving in a car. Murphy was reportedly armed with a semiautomatic handgun and exchanged gunfire with officers. Law enforcement shot and killed Murphy.

On February 24, 2021, Michael Darrell Smith, 34, was driving a car when Lumberton PD escalated a chase for outstanding warrants. The chase continued until Smith crashed into four other vehicles at the intersection of 7th Street and Roberts Avenue in Lumberton. Smith was killed in the crash.

U.S. Marshal's Office and Oklahoma Highway Patrol, responded to the scene. Stambaugh exited the home holding a firearm. Officers opened fire, killing him.

On February 23, 2021, around 1:15 p.m., a man met with a woman in the courtyard of a housing services program in Seattle's Central District. The man allegedly made threatening statements before pulling out a gun and firing at the woman, who managed to escape without injury. After the attempted shooting, the man fatally shot himself at the scene.

On February 23, 2021, around 7:30 p.m., Jackson County Sheriff's Office deputies and Eagle Point Police officers responded to a domestic disturbance involving a firearm in the 100 block of Idlewood Drive in Eagle Point. Before officers arrived, 39-year-old Dale Arthur Amstutz-Dunn left the location in an SUV with another man. Police stopped the vehicle on Stevens Road near Idlewood Drive, in the parking lot of Church on the Hill. Amstutz-Dunn produced a firearm and shot a deputy in the chest; however, the deputy's body armor prevented serious injury. During the ensuing shootout, Amstutz-Dunn diedfrom alleged suicide. A grand jury later found that the officers' use of force was justified.

On 02/22/2021, an incident occurred on the Jeffries Freeway near Schaefer Highway in Detroit where an off-duty Detroit police officer was involved in a vehicular collision. The officer struck and killed a man who was fleeing from the location of a shooting on I-96, which had resulted in the deaths of two individuals. The fleeing man was attempting to escape on foot when he was hit by the officer's vehicle. Details were not disclosed.

On February 22, 2021, a McDowell County sheriff’s deputy initiated a vehicle stop on Randolph Road in Nebo, North Carolina. During the stop, gunfire was exchanged between the deputy and the occupants of the vehicle for unknown reasons. Carlton James "C.J." Adams, 30, was fatally shot in the exchange. Another occupant, David Steven Hylemon, 39, was injured. The circumstances leading to the gunfire remain under investigation by the McDowell County Sheriff's Office.

On 02/21/2021, Michigan State Police troopers responded to a call regarding an armed individual exhibiting irrational behavior in the 9700 block of North Wyman Road, Blancha Road. Andrew Allen Courser was reported to have fired a gun near homes and yelled at passing vehicles. Upon arrival, along with a Home Township police officer, Courser allegedly shot at the officers, who returned fire. Courser then barricaded himself in a barn approximately a quarter of a mile away from the initial scene. After a standoff lasting about four hours, Courser emerged from the barn, pointing a gun at the police. Troopers then shot and killed him. The incident is under investigation by the Michigan State Police.

Daniel Newton Neal, who had an active warrant for robbery, attempted to evade police. During the chase, he allegedly rammed an undercover police vehicle, exited his car, and fled into a nearby restaurant. While reaching for a gun, Neal was fatally shot by officers from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

On February 20, 2021, Albuquerque Police Department officers responded to reports of a man walking in the street near Copper Avenue NE and San Mateo Boulevard NE in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Upon arrival, officers attempted to get the man, later identified as 40-year-old Claude Trivino, to move out of the roadway. Trivino reportedly did not cooperate with the officers' commands.

On February 20, 2021, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Villa Hills Police Department officers Sean Dooley and Jacob Bolton conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 75 near Erlanger, Kentucky, for a speeding violation. Randall Lee Lockaby, a 57-year-old man, exited his vehicle and produced a gun. Both officers opened fire, killing him. The Kentucky State Police investigated and justified the shooting. In February 2022, Lockaby's family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the Villa Hills Police Department and the involved officers, alleging excessive force and constitutional violations.

On February 19, 2021, Catasauqua Police Department officers responded to a domestic disturbance involving Ryan Daniel Shirey and his ex-girlfriend at a residence on the 100 block of South 14th Street. Upon arrival, Shirey fled into the basement and retrieved a revolver. Officers followed him and ordered him to drop the weapon. When Shirey did not comply, Officer Joelle Mota discharged his firearm, fatally striking Shirey. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Lehigh County District Attorney later ruled the shooting justified.

An armed robbery incident concluded approximately two miles from the crime scene when police pursued and stopped a vehicle using a PIT maneuver on Baymeadows Way. Of the three people in the car, two attempted to escape but were apprehended. The driver was found dead from a gunshot wound, which was sustained prior to police approaching the vehicle.

On February 18, 2021, Dallas police officers responded to a domestic violence call at a residence in the 5300 block of Bonita Avenue. Upon arrival around 11 a.m., they were met with gunfire from Sergio Sanchez, 57, who shot and wounded two officers in the legs. A SWAT team was deployed, and upon entering the home around 1:30 p.m., they found Sanchez and his wife, 31-year-old April Sanchez, deceased from gunshot wounds. Authorities reported that Sergio Sanchez had an extensive violent criminal history and did not want to return to prison after shooting his wife.

On 02/17/2021, the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a reported altercation on Albert Magee Road in Mount Hermon, Louisiana. Deputies encountered Dustin A. On February 17, 2021, deputies from the Rowan County Sheriff's Office attempted to arrest 28-year-old James Edward Coe for outstanding warrants. Deputies observed Coe and another individual leaving a residence in Salisbury and getting into a white Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck.

The deputies, looking for a reason to stop him, stated that Coe had brake light and tag violations. This explanation was used to escalate a high-speed chase that continued until the I-85 southbound ramp near Julian Road. Coe reportedly exited the vehicle and fired a long gun, striking a police vehicle. Deputies returned fire as Coe fled into a wooded area, allegedly continuing to shoot at pursuing officers.
Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Rowan County Sheriff's Office, Salisbury Police Department, and North Carolina State Highway Patrol, responded and established a perimeter. Coe was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

On February 17, 2021, around 8:40 p.m., two Houston police officers saw a black pickup truck speeding and followed it to a parking lot next to a taco truck on Little York Road. The driver exited the vehicle, pulled out a pistol, and robbed the taco truck. Both officers ordered him to drop the weapon. When he did not comply, both officers opened fire and killed him.

On February 16, 2021, around 9:20 p.m., Port of Seattle officers contacted the Seattle Police Department regarding Derek J. Hayden, a man in mental health crisis with a kitchen knife. When officers arrived, Hayden fled down Alaskan Way. PSPD officers attempted to de-escalate the situation by following Hayden. They also employed a less-lethal 40mm launcher that fires foam-tipped projectiles, but this method was unsuccessful in subduing him. On 02/15/2021, at approximately 2 p.m., El Monte Police Department officers responded to a robbery report near Garvey Avenue and Durfee Avenue in El Monte, California. Officers observed Francisco Eduardo Flores, 30, who matched the description provided in the report, fleeing onto the eastbound off-ramp of the 10 Freeway at Durfee Avenue.

An officer chased Flores and escalated a physical altercation. A second officer arrived to join the fight. During the physical fight, at least one officer opened fire, killing Flores. On February 14, 2021, at approximately 3:30 a.m., off-duty Corbin Police Department Sgt. Stephen Meadors was contacted at his residence on Dogwood Cove in Corbin, Kentucky, by a neighbor reporting a prowler. Sgt. Meadors went outside and encountered 19-year-old Phillip N. Davenport. An altercation ensued, during which Sgt. Meadors opened fire, killing Davenport. Davenport was transported to Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin, where he was pronounced deceased by the Whitley County Coroner. The Kentucky State Police investigated the incident. In October 2021, a Whitley County grand jury returned a "no true bill," clearing Sgt. Meadors of any wrongdoing.

The suspect, Adam Bruce Connors, 32, had left the scene before officers arrived. Later, police received a report of a possible suicidal person involving Connors. Officers located him approaching the residence on foot, armed with a shotgun. Despite commands to drop the weapon, Connors continued toward the house, which was occupied by one adult and six children. Officer I. Lujan fired a single shot from a patrol rifle, striking Connors, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

On February 13, 2021, Aaron Negash, 28, was stopped in a Hyundai SUV on the shoulder of westbound I-70 facing the wrong direction when an Indiana State Police trooper arrived. As the trooper parked in front of the SUV and exited his squad car, Negash drove forward, veering around the police vehicle. He continued driving about a half-mile in the wrong direction before crashing into a Hyundai Sonata carrying two occupants. The collision resulted in the deaths of Negash, the Sonata's driver, Jepthah Lian, 34, and an unidentified passenger.
