On February 3, 2021, the Deming Police Department and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security were involved in an operation in Deming, New Mexico, near 1st Street and 8th Street. During the investigation, an individual was shot and killed by law enforcement officers. His family stated that he was mentally ill and known to carry toy guns and while he had a gun, he did not raise it at police.

On February 3, 2021, at approximately 3:51 p.m., Pomona Police Department officers attempted to stop a 1990 maroon Honda Accord for a vehicle code violation near San Antonio Avenue and Ninth Street. The driver, later identified as 22-year-old Eli Richard Machado Lopez, did not stop. Po.lice escalated a chase that reached speeds of up to 106 mph.
Police claim they "called off the chase" just before the driver collided with a Nissan Maxima at the intersection of South San Antonio Avenue and Philadelphia Street. The impact was severe, w.ith Pinto-Mendez sustaining fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the crash site.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is investigating the incident. Pinto-Mendez's father suffered a heart attack upon learning of his son's death.

On February 3, 2021, at approximately 11:00 a.m., agents from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) and deputies from the Granville County Sheriff's Office arrived at 3147 Canady Mill Rd. in Franklinton, North Carolina, to serve an arrest warrant for 52-year-old Anthony Andrew Renuart. The charges against Renuart included first-degree statutory sex offense, four counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, and disseminating obscenities to a minor. The search warrant pertained to the production of child pornography.

Upon their arrival, Renuart, who was armed, retreated into the residence. At approximately 11:00 a.m., he emerged from the house armed with a long gun. An SBI agent opened fire, fatally wounding Renuart.

When deputies arrived, an exchange of gunfire occurred, and the man fled. Police later found Nicholas Pingel dead from a gunshot wound. Pingel had killed two individuals, 72-year-old Ray Engelking and 77-year-old Carl Halvorsen, who were unknown to him. Deputies involved in the incident were not identified in the reports.

On February 1, 2021, around 8:30 p.m., police responded to a call reporting that a man had broken into a home in Hayward and held the caller hostage. The hostage managed to escape and contacted the police. Authorities arrived at the scene and attempted to get the suspect, Terry L. Carson, to come out. Carson refused to comply, and a long standoff ensued. After a period of silence, police used a robot with a camera to check on Carson and discovered that he had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Upon arrival, they encountered 57-year-old Kevin Hayes of Arkansas, who was armed with a firearm. Officers instructed Hayes to drop his weapon; however, he reportedly opened fire on the officers. In response, the officers returned fire, fatally wounding Hayes.

On January 31, 2021, deputies from the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a fight involving gunfire in the 1000 block of Atrisco Road SW in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Deputies, who were in the vicinity at the time, encountered a man, later identified as 41-year-old Ezekial Meza, while en route to the scene. Meza reportedly attempted to flee, leading to a confrontation during which deputies opened fire and killed him.

On January 31, 2021, Carmel Police Department officers responded to a disturbance at 441 W Main Street in Carmel, Indiana. A person, later identified as Keith Scales, 60, had reportedly threatened suicide and was firing shots from inside a residence shortly before noon. Upon arrival, officers observed gunfire coming from the home's windows and doors and began evacuating nearby residents. During the incident, Scales shot at several vehicles, including a police vehicle. When Scales allegedly raised a high-powered rifle toward the officers, they shot and killed him.

On January 31, 2021, at approximately 5:20 p.m., the McCurtain County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic assault report involving Franklin Gray, a 39-year-old male. Gray was allegedly restraining his mother on a couch, causing her breathing difficulties. When deputies arrived at the residence in the 1700 block of Lavender Road in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, they encountered Gray outside the home and attempted to arrest him. During the altercation, Gray reportedly tried to take a deputy's firearm, resulting in the weapon discharging. Deputies deployed a taser in an effort to subdue Gray but were unsuccessful. The confrontation escalated, and at least one deputy opened fire, fatally shooting Gray.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is investigating the incident. The findings will be reviewed by the District Attorney's Office to determine the appropriateness of the deputies' actions.

On January 30, 2021, at approximately 12:35 a.m., East Cleveland police officers initiated a vehicle pursuit as part of a drug investigation. The chase concluded near East 110th Street and St. Clair Avenue in Cleveland when the fleeing vehicle collided with a utility pole and caught fire. Narumanchi, who was terminally ill, had recently applied for a volunteer position at the clinic. During the standoff, Narumanchi shot and killed Dr. Dodson before taking his own life.

On January 25, 2021, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Columbus police received reports of a man firing shots at vehicles in the parking lot of a Kroger store located at 5800 West Broad Street. The man, later identified as Jordan Garrett Suydam, 26, was reportedly driving a maroon 2007 Dodge Ram pickup truck.

Shortly thereafter, additional reports indicated that Suydam had fired shots at individuals near Westgate Park and at a woman walking her dog.

At approximately 12:25 p.m., Franklin Township officers spotted Suydam’s vehicle near Frank Road and Harrisburg Pike. A pursuit ensued, with speeds reaching up to 100 mph and Suydam running multiple red lights. The chase continued until officers temporarily lost sight of the vehicle.

Officers then observed smoke emanating from an area near Phillipi Road and Fisher Road. Upon arrival, they found the vehicle overturned and engulfed in flames. Suydam was inside the vehicle, armed with a long-barreled shotgun. As the fire intensified, ammunition inside the vehicle began to explode, preventing officers from safely approaching. Once the fire was extinguished, Suydam was found deceased inside the vehicle.

Investigations revealed that Suydam was a person of interest in the homicide of his father, Arthur Suydam III, earlier that day in McComb, Ohio.

Caleb McCree, 43, was confronted by officers during a disturbance call at 61104 Airport Road in Slidell, Louisiana. Officers engaged McCree in an altercation, during which they opened fire and killed him. Police did not disclose whether McCree was armed. The circumstances leading to the fatal shooting have been withheld by police. McCree was pronounced dead at the location.

On January 24, 2021, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Alexandria Police Department Officer Zachary Taylor was on duty, driving a marked police vehicle southbound on State Road 9 in Alexandria, Indiana. During this time, Officer Taylor struck Dylan Kelly Stinson, 22, who was on a skateboard. Stinson sustained fatal injuries from the collision.
