Delworthington Gardens DPS stepped up patrols around a house on E. Ridgeway Dr. after a man had threatened violence to his family members. Police saw the man who fled in his car. Police pursued him and additional police departments arrived. After a 30 minute chase to Midlothian, the man stopped and exited the vehicle and allegedly fired a shot toward police. Sherman Lee Butler, 45, was shot and killed July 12 by a bailiff, who is an independent contractor with Detroit's 36th District Court, when Butler failed to vacate his Palmer Park apartment said the attorney for the Manderson Road apartment complex. The bailiff had gone to the residence on Manderson Road for an eviction. Police claim that Sherman Lee Butler was found in his bed holding a weapon. He was tased and charged by police and was finally shot and killed by a bailiff.

Kevin Matthews was believed to have killed two people in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was tracked by US Marshals across several states and was discovered in a motel in Jacksonville, Florida. Orange County Sheriff’s gang unit deputies were conducting surveillance on a house with multiple people being under surveillance for possible gang-related activity. Tristan Mayberry, 19, left the house with a gun according to police who escalated a confrontation at a nearby gas Seven Eleven station. Police claim that Mayberry made a "suspicious motion" and they shot and killed him. Bodycam is linked below and only shows him in a convenience store, committing no crimes, defensively walking away from an aggressive cop with a gun pointed at his head. A second officer corners him and he is shot and killed in the middle. Police stated that he had a gun or pointed a gun in various forms but this is not seen on BWC. An officer drove across an intersection and ran a red light with allegedly blue lights on but no siren at 11 p.m. and pulled into the path of a motorcycle. The police vehicle caused Sumner Howard to crash his motorcycle, killing him. Fox10 pulled the crash report and found that a brick building to the right blocks the view of any approaching cars from the south, which means Howard likely never saw the police car. It had no sirens and Howard very likely was completely unaware of the police car that ran the red light and suddenly blocked his lane.

The intersection has a known blind spot. Police allege that he was speeding through red lights because he was on an “emergency call” but did not disclose what emergency they were chasing. The lack of sirens late at night was also not explained by MPD.

Mobile PD finally disclosed that the officer was Roy Adams Jr. This was the fourth crash he has caused in 2024 alone. Two of the crashes occurred on the same day separately. Another crash happened when he fell asleep while driving his patrol car. Another crash happened when he was seen running a stop sign. The final crash occurred on 7/9/2024 during which he killed Sumner Howard.

This is the second motorcyclist killed in Mobile in 2024 by negligent MPD officers. The first case, motorcyclist Robert Sayen who was killed by MPD while riding a motorcycle, is currently before a grand jury. The officer in the Sayen crash was Callegari.

Elkhart SWAT arrived at a domestic violence situation and Ryan Snyder, 37, locked himself into the home with 2 of his children.
