On 03/29/2022, Alaska State Troopers responded to a reported armed home invasion on Edelweiss Drive in Wasilla. Dispatchers received a 911 call stating a man had forced entry into a residence and fired a weapon inside. Troopers arrived, secured the home, and began searching the surrounding wooded area after the man left the residence. Troopers located Joshua Baert nearby during the search. According to the Alaska Department of Public Safety, Baert fired shots during the encounter. Troopers returned fire and shot him. He was pronounced dead at the scene. On 03/28/2022, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a reported burglary in progress at the Riviera Mobile Home Park near the 2000 block of Palm Street in Las Vegas. Officers located Michael Allensworth inside the park during their response. Police stated Allensworth pointed a firearm during the encounter. Officers James Villareal, Johnathan Cole, and Beau Cooley fired their weapons and shot him. Officers transported Allensworth to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Chaves County deputies Joshua McKelveyvand Benjamin Conklin were called to a local dairy farm because David Aguilera was reportedly disorderly and tried to drive a tractor at work when someone called police. Police arrived and tasered him multiple times. He tried to escape the attack by driving away in a police vehicle. Officers Conklin and McKelvey shot and killed the unarmed man.Aguilera was polite, even apologetic toward the officers, and obviously confused, asking why he was being handcuffed. The deputy said he did not know what he had done to be arrested and he cursed Aguilera and tased him in response. It is unclear what escalated the situation because the bodycams of all 3 deputies stopped working at the same time when he was put in the cruiser and the video resumed later just prior to his killing. Officer McKelvey claimed that Aguilera picked up a pipe or tire iron but the other officers did not report this and the video evidence of what happened after he was put in the patrol car is inexplicably missing from all 3 deputies’ bodycams. Aguilera was reported by his family to be a dedicated family man with 6 children, 4 of whom were stepchildren whom he provided for and was reportedly a great parent to. After the killing, local media asked for Deputy Conklin to be indicted for his role in the avoidable death. Conklin had also previously shot and killed 65-year-old Craig Heinzen on July 16, 2021. After the Heintzen shooting, Conklin was struggling with mental health and alcoholism, spent 35 days as an inpatient in substance rehab and was at work mere weeks again when he killed Aguilera. The DA passed on the case and turned it over to the AG who reviewed it but did not indict the deputies.

Multiple law enforcement agencies chased a man on the highway after having received a call for a child sexual abuse investigation. The man, identified only as a Latino man named Miguel, no last name given, fled at high speed from police but returned home and locked himself in.
He escaped again, ramming his way through a Cochise County Sheriff’s Office vehicle, fled east on I-10, then north on U.S. Highway 191 at speeds in excess of 100 mph.
Stop sticks were about to be placed at milepost 98 but the car turned around and drove south, then turned west and another attempt near that anticipated location at spike strips was made. A Grappler was used to stop him. He picked up a gun and committed suicide under police duress when ensnared by the Grappler.

On 03/24/2022, Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded after a shooting on Rollins Road in Knoxville that sent one man to the University of Tennessee Medical Center with life threatening injuries. Deputies used a vehicle description from witnesses to locate another man at a nearby home on Lugar Road, where he stayed inside for hours while deputies and SWAT tried to make contact.
