On 06/07/2021, Jefferson City police officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on West Truman Boulevard due to expired license tags. During the stop, police stated that Clay Willingham displayed a rifle from inside the vehicle. Officers opened fire and shot Willingham. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Missouri State Highway Patrol investigated the shooting. The Cole County prosecutor later ruled the shooting justified. No officers were charged.

On 06/07/2021 at 3:39 p.m., deputies with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a residence on Lake Road in Garden City for a welfare check. When deputies arrived, they observed Crystal Renee Guhr on the front porch holding a firearm. Deputies ordered Guhr to drop the weapon multiple times. Police stated that Guhr pointed the firearm at deputies. A deputy fired their weapon, striking Guhr. She was transported to a hospital, where she died from her injuries. The shooting was placed under investigation. No officers were charged.

On 06/07/2021, Scottsbluff police officers responded to a residence on West Overland after receiving reports that Daniel Ojeda may be armed and had made threats to himself or others. While officers were responding, shots were reported from inside the home. Police established a perimeter and negotiated with Ojeda for several hours. Officers later entered the residence. During the entry, officers opened fire and shot Ojeda. He died from his injuries. The shooting was reviewed by a grand jury, which cleared the officers involved. No officers were charged.

On June 5, 2021, Mark A. Sousa, 44, was seen speeding in Mount Vernon, Maine. Police could not catch him and targeted him again when they saw him hours later elsewhere driving a Volkswagen Jetta on Burns Road in Augusta. He did not stop for a traffic stop. Officers from the Kennebec County Sheriff's Office and the Mount Vernon PD escalated a chase at high speeds until he ran off the road and crashed in the woods near the intersection of Bartlett Road and Wings Mills Road in Mount Vernon. The vehicle was empty, and his body was located in a nearby field. Police state that he was ejected during the crash. The Maine State Police investigated and justified the fatal pursuit.

On 06/05/2021, a 38-year-old man driving a Honda Accord the wrong way on the 118 Freeway in the San Fernando Valley was pursued by law enforcement. The chase continued into Sherman Oaks, where the driver collided with a Subaru occupied by a bystander. The Honda’s driver sustained fatal injuries, and firefighters had to cut the roof from the car to extract him. The bystander in the Subaru survived. On June 5, 2021, Burgaw Police stopped Kyle Edward Shorette, 49, after observing his white truck driving erratically near South Dudley Street. Shorette stopped in the parking lot of a Piggly Wiggly grocery store at 103 South Dudley Street.

On June 4, 2021, police officers attempted to arrest 29-year-old Timothy Flowers in connection with a triple shooting that occurred in Sumner Park in May 2021. On 06/04/2021, at approximately 12:10 p.m., Whittier Police Department officers responded to a call reporting a person with a gun near a city dog park in Whittier, California. Upon arrival, officers determined that the individual had already left the area.
Shortly thereafter, another officer located the man on a city-maintained bike trail near the 12400 block of Mar Vista Street. According to police, the man allegedly pulled a handgun out of his pocket. The officer opened fire, killing the man.

On 06/04/2021, Braintree Police Department officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at an apartment complex located at 2 McCusker Dr in Braintree. Andrew Homen fled into the adjacent woods after the call. After a 45-minute search, a police K-9 unit located Homen. During the encounter, Homen killed the police dog and wounded an officer before being shot and killed by the police.

On 06/02/2021, a pursuit by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies ended in the City of Industry when a 2019 Nissan Sentra being chased for armed robbery reversed direction and crashed head-on into a Freightliner truck near the 60 Freeway and South Workman Mill Road. On 06/02/2021, Arkansas State Police attempted to stop a motorcycle on U.S. Highway 70 near Hot Springs for failing to comply with emergency lights and siren. The rider, identified as Timothy Andrew Kemp, Jr. of Mountain Pine, fled on foot after abandoning the motorcycle at a dead end on Sunshine Road. On June 1, 2021, at approximately 2:30 a.m., deputies from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office and officers from the Berwick Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious individual near Sixth Street and Utah Street in Berwick, Louisiana. Robert Pearce, a 37-year-old male from New Iberia, ran away on foot. Police escalated a chase and alleged that Pearce attempted to enter a vehicle occupied by a female driver while holding an object they believed was a gun. Law enforcement opened fire, killing Pearce.
He was pronounced dead on the street by the St. Mary Parish Coroner's Office.

On 06/01/2021, Ray City police responded to a residence on Pauline Avenue to conduct a wellness check. When officers arrived, they encountered Donald Myers. During the encounter, police opened fire and shot Myers. Emergency medical personnel transported him to South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, where he later died from his injuries. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation assumed control of the case at the request of Ray City police. The investigation was later submitted to the Berrien County District Attorney’s Office for review. No officers were charged.

On May 31, 2021, at approximately 9:30 a.m., the Madison Parish Sheriff's Office requested assistance from the Louisiana State Police regarding an armed individual, Michael Jackson, a 29-year-old Black male from Vicksburg, Mississippi, who had locked himself in his vehicle on U.S. Highway 65, north of Tallulah, Louisiana.

Earlier that day, Jackson had fled from Warren County Sheriff's deputies in Mississippi, allegedly dragging them with his vehicle as they attempted to arrest him on outstanding warrants.

Upon being located by Madison Parish deputies, Jackson fled and crashed into a ditch alongside U.S. Highway 65. He then produced a handgun, leading deputies to secure the scene and call for assistance.

Louisiana State Police personnel, including police negotiators, arrived and engaged in a standoff. During this time, Jackson exhibited erratic behavior, such as shooting into his own vehicle and walking into an adjacent field with the firearm. The police fired less-lethal weapons in an attempt to disarm him. Subsequently, Jackson approached the safety perimeter and attempted to draw his handgun, prompting troopers to open fire, resulting in his death.

On 05/31/2021, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department attempted to stop a motorcycle with no license plate in Yucca Valley. The rider, identified as 29-year-old Bilal Winston Shabazz of Lancaster, failed to stop, and police escalated a pursuit. Shabazz abandoned the motorcycle and fled on foot through several properties. Sgt. Dominic Vaca attempted to detain him, and Shabazz opened fire, fatally wounding Vaca. Other deputies returned fire, striking and killing Shabazz. A loaded handgun and two ammunition magazines were recovered near his body.

On May 31, 2021, a Linn County deputy attempted to stop a reportedly stolen vehicle near Center Point. The juvenile driver did not stop, and officers escalated a chase that continued northbound on I-380 and westbound on Highway 150. In the 2800 block of Highway 150, both the driver and a juvenile passenger jumped from the moving vehicle. The driver was struck by the car and died at the scene. The vehicle continued moving and crashed into a home; no one inside was injured. The Iowa State Patrol is investigating.

On May 31, 2021, an Onalaska Police officer observed a motorcycle speeding on Highway 35. The officer attempted to stop the motorcycle at a stop sign, and although the rider initially appeared to comply, the motorcyclist sped off down Oak Avenue at an estimated speed of 100 mph. While notifying dispatch to end the pursuit, the officer witnessed the motorcycle crash into a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The motorcyclist, identified as 33-year-old Tou Yia Lor, was thrown from the motorcycle and died from the injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the Hyundai Tucson was injured.
