Alexandria PD escalated a chase of a vehicle that they felt was involved in nearby gunfire. The vehicle did not stop and drove northbound on Interstate 295. Police continued to chase the driver into Southeast Washington, D.C., where he exited the vehicle and jumped over a jersey barrier, falling approximately 23 feet onto Malcolm X Avenue. While still being chased, a U.S. Park Police officer deployed a stun gun, and Alexandria Police officers took him into custody. He was pronounced dead at the crash site.

On April 6, 2021, Oneonta Police Department Sergeant Ralph Pajerski and an unidentified partner responded to a domestic incident at 48 River Street in Oneonta, New York. Upon arrival, they encountered Tyler R. Green, 23, who was allegedly threatening his girlfriend with a knife while holding their two-year-old son. Despite officers' commands to drop the weapon, Green reportedly cut his girlfriend's leg and swung the knife toward the child. In response, Sergeant Pajerski fired two shots, striking Green. Green was transported to Albany Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

On April 6, 2021, officers with the Houston Police Department pursued a vehicle after the driver refused to stop for a traffic violation. The vehicle fled at high speed and was weaving through traffic on Westheimer Road. Near South Dairy Ashford Road the vehicle collided with another car and burst into flames. The driver died at the scene. The Houston Police Department is investigating the pursuit and crash.

On April 5, 2021, Louisiana State Police Troop C engaged a pursuit of a 2007 Toyota Highlander reported stolen in Houma. The driver, later identified as 19-year-old Frederick Howard of Gretna, fled eastbound in the wrong direction in the westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 90, crossing the Des Allemands Bridge near Raceland. Troopers discovered the vehicle crashed and empty at the top of the bridge. Around 6:00 p.m., Howard’s body was found under the elevated section of the bridge with injuries consistent with a fall from height. An autopsy was conducted on April 7, 2021.

On 04/05/2021, New York City police shot and killed 55 year old Abdou Jallow during an evening police encounter in the Bronx. On 04/04/2021, Michigan State Police troopers were conducting a welfare check at around 8 p.m. when they discovered a 62-year-old woman dead from an apparent homicide in her home in Lake Township. The house was empty except for the victim at the time of discovery. Through investigation, troopers identified a man, Adam Briggs, a 30-year-old relative of the victim. A broadcast alert was issued for Briggs. Shortly after 1 a.m., the Cadillac Police Department spotted the vehicle associated with Briggs and attempted a traffic stop. Briggs did not stop. Police escalated a with multiple agencies. During the chase, Briggs allegedly fired shots at the pursuing officers. No one was hit. Missaukee County Sheriff's deputies used stop sticks to disable Briggs' vehicle. Briggs then ran away on foot. His body was found shortly after 6 a.m. with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, confirming his death as a suicide.

On April 4, 2021, Michael Ray Wagner, a 47-year-old white male from Geneva, Indiana, was killed during a police chase in Shelbyville, Kentucky. On 04/03/2021, Riverside County sheriff’s deputies went to a residence on La Fortuna Lane in Moreno Valley to locate Juan Carlos Estrada. Deputies used patrol vehicle speakers to order Estrada to come outside. While deputies were outside the home, a dispatcher received a call from inside the residence indicating Estrada was armed. Estrada later exited the home and moved toward deputies and their patrol vehicles. Deputies opened fire, and Estrada was shot and killed at the scene. Around 3:30 a.m., Corvallis Police responded to a call from the Days Inn motel staff reporting a man acting aggressively with a knife. Officers encountered Jeffrey W. On April 2, 2021, at approximately 5:15 a.m., Long Beach Police Department officers responded to a 911 call reporting a man who appeared to have had a heart attack and a woman threatening suicide at a residence in the 2800 block of Golden Avenue. Upon arrival, officers observed a large amount of blood inside the residence and were immediately confronted by 38-year-old Lauren Nicole Archibeque, who was armed with a rifle. Officers quickly exited the residence, set up a perimeter, and attempted to de-escalate the situation by making repeated attempts to communicate with Archibeque, urging her to surrender. She did not respond.

After some time, Archibeque emerged at the doorway of the residence, and officers observed her pointing the rifle at them. At that point, three officers discharged their firearms, fatally wounding her. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Upon re-entering the residence, officers discovered a 49-year-old man on a bedroom floor with a serious laceration to his neck. He was also pronounced dead at the scene. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office later determined that the man's death was a suicide.

The Long Beach Police Department is conducting a full and thorough multi-level review of the incident, and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office is conducting an independent investigation, as is standard protocol for officer-involved shootings resulting in injury or death. The chase continued onto Highway 60 near the Blythe Ferry boat ramp, where the vehicle left the roadway and plunged into the Tennessee River. On April 2, 2021, around 10:13 p.m., a deputy from the Person County Sheriff's Office responded to an incomplete 911 call at a residence in the 1300 block of Clay Long Road in Hurdle Mills, North Carolina. Upon arrival, the deputy encountered Jackie Cameron Capps, 58, holding three people hostage at gunpoint.
The deputy called for backup and ordered Capps to drop his weapon. Capps refused and allegedly pointed the firearm at the hostages. The deputy discharged their weapon, fatally shooting Capps. The Person County Sheriff's Office is investigating the circumstances of the shooting.

Around 4 a.m., a Harris County Precinct 5 deputy constable was driving on the West Beltway when a red Camaro sped by without headlights. The deputy pursued the Camaro at speeds up to 100 mph. After approximately four minutes, the Camaro exited the Beltway at Clay Road and struck a Ford Ranger at the intersection. Both drivers were killed, and the deputy was unharmed.

On 04/02/2021, Riverside County sheriff’s deputies were conducting surveillance at the Welcome Inn in Corona when they observed Angel Nelson in the parking lot. Deputies attempted to take Nelson into custody. During the encounter, members of the sheriff’s department Gang Impact Team opened fire, and Nelson was shot and killed at the scene. The circumstances surrounding the shooting were reviewed by outside authorities.

On 04/02/2021, Noah R. Green drove a vehicle into a barricade at the U.S. Capitol complex, striking two U.S. Capitol Police officers. One officer, William Evans, died from his injuries, and another officer was hospitalized. After exiting the vehicle, Green was shot and killed by police outside the Capitol. The incident prompted an immediate security lockdown of the area and was investigated by federal authorities.

Around 6:30 p.m., Salem Police officers responded to a report of a suicidal man who had injured himself. Firefighters arrived first, and Natzeryt Layahoshua Viertel allegedly threatened them with a firearm. When police arrived, Viertel was still seen with the gun. An officer opened fire, killing him. On April 1, 2021, a high-speed pursuit involving the California Highway Patrol and Los Angeles Police Department occurred on the 405 and 118 freeways in Sherman Oaks. The driver of a Honda, fleeing police at speeds reaching 117 miles per hour, entered the wrong lanes of traffic and crashed head-on into a Subaru. On 04/01/2021, Lakewood police responded to reports of a disturbance at an apartment complex on West Jewell Avenue. Steven Ross Glass was reported to have damaged a neighbor’s door and then retreated into his apartment. Police established a perimeter as Glass remained barricaded inside. During the standoff, Glass discharged plastic pellets from a replica weapon toward officers. Police opened fire, and Glass was shot and killed inside the apartment.

Multiple deputies from the Macoupin County Sheriff’s Office and a Brighton police officer were present. Officers remained at the residence for an extended period speaking with Iler. During the encounter, police stated that Iler was holding a knife and moved toward a deputy. A deputy opened fire, and Iler was shot and killed at the scene.
