On 02/25/2021, Shadow Ridge Stanley was a passenger in a red Ford Ranger driven by Zachary Douglas Lumpkin in Whitfield County. A sheriff’s deputy attempted a traffic stop with emergency lights and siren activated around 7:45 p.m. The driver continued driving. During the chase, Deputy Christopher Hicks struck the truck’s right rear with his patrol vehicle, causing the truck to spin, go airborne, strike a utility pole on the driver’s side, and overturn. Stanley was killed in the crash.

On 02/25/2021, around 9: 22 p.m., officers from the Baltimore Police Department's Inner Harbor unit were flagged down in the area of Market and Pratt streets following a non-fatal shooting. One officer provided aid to the victim, while others pursued a man who fled into the Harbor Park Garage. On the ramp into the garage, the man, identified as Benjamin D. Tyson, allegedly turned around, produced a handgun, and attempted to fire it. Multiple officers then shot and killed Tyson.

A person reported to the police station claiming to be a victim of domestic violence and alleged they had been assaulted with a firearm. The victim identified Alonte Murphy as the alleged assailant. Around 5 p.m., police observed Murphy arriving in a car. Murphy was reportedly armed with a semiautomatic handgun and exchanged gunfire with officers. Law enforcement shot and killed Murphy.

On 02/24/2021, just after midnight, Antioch police officers encountered Arturo Gomez Calel in a roadway during what was described as a mental health crisis. Police reported that Calel struggled with officers during the encounter. During the struggle, officers used a Taser. Calel became unresponsive and died at the scene. Authorities said the death occurred following the Taser use and physical restraint. The circumstances were referred for further investigation.

On February 22, 2021, around 1:00 p.m., a motorcyclist on a Kawasaki refused to stop for the California Highway Patrol while traveling northbound on Interstate 15 near Fallbrook. The rider sped off at high speed and collided with a Toyota Camry and the center guardrail, suffering fatal injuries. He was transported to Palomar Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. On February 21, 2021, 23-year-old Keean Smalls of Augusta, Georgia, died after a police pursuit ended in a crash. Around 4:00 a.m., Richmond County Sheriff's deputies attempted to stop Smalls’ vehicle on Gordon Highway. Smalls did not stop, and deputies initiated a pursuit. The chase ended when Smalls drove through a Sprint gas station parking lot near Barton Chapel Road and crashed into the rear of a parked tractor-trailer. Smalls was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:55 a.m. He had to be extricated from the vehicle. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash.

On 02/21/2021, Michigan State Police troopers responded to a call regarding an armed individual exhibiting irrational behavior in the 9700 block of North Wyman Road, Blancha Road. Andrew Allen Courser was reported to have fired a gun near homes and yelled at passing vehicles. Upon arrival, along with a Home Township police officer, Courser allegedly shot at the officers, who returned fire. Courser then barricaded himself in a barn approximately a quarter of a mile away from the initial scene. After a standoff lasting about four hours, Courser emerged from the barn, pointing a gun at the police. Troopers then shot and killed him. The incident is under investigation by the Michigan State Police.

The driver, 38-year-old William Robert Ice of Pennsylvania, refused to stop, and police escalated a chase south on Arkansas Highway 31. The vehicle became disabled in a snowbank on Raprich Road. On February 19, 2021, a Livingston County sheriff’s deputy responded to a crash on U.S. Highway 36 near Chillicothe. The deputy placed 34-year-old Timothy David Frandson in the patrol car; inside, Frandson allegedly struck the deputy with the radio microphone. The deputy opened fire, and Frandson died at the scene. The Missouri State Highway Patrol investigated; prosecutors later announced no charges.

On February 19, 2021, Costa Mesa Police officers responded to an incident near the 1500 block of South Coast Drive involving 34-year-old Jose David Valdez. Police said Valdez backed his vehicle toward passengers and then accelerated toward officers, prompting them to open fire. Valdez was struck and killed at the scene. The Orange County District Attorney’s Office conducted an investigation and later determined the shooting to be legally justified.

An armed robbery incident concluded approximately two miles from the crime scene when police pursued and stopped a vehicle using a PIT maneuver on Baymeadows Way. Of the three people in the car, two attempted to escape but were apprehended. The driver was found dead from a gunshot wound, which was sustained prior to police approaching the vehicle.

On 02/18/2021, Athens-Clarke County police officers attempted to stop a vehicle reported as stolen. Officers followed the vehicle until it entered a ditch near Fritz Mar Lane and Newton Bridge Road. Timothy Statham exited the vehicle and moved into a wooded area nearby. Additional officers responded and attempted to get him to surrender. Police said Statham did not comply, kept his hands in his pockets, and made statements indicating he had ammunition, although investigators later said he was unarmed. During the encounter, officers reported that Statham moved toward them. Three officers opened fire, striking him. Statham died at the scene.

Deputies reported that William Clayton Blackwell grabbed a firearm during the encounter, leading to an exchange of gunfire. Blackwell was shot and transported to a hospital, where he later died.

On February 18, 2021, Dallas police officers responded to a domestic violence call at a residence in the 5300 block of Bonita Avenue. Upon arrival around 11 a.m., they were met with gunfire from Sergio Sanchez, 57, who shot and wounded two officers in the legs. A SWAT team was deployed, and upon entering the home around 1:30 p.m., they found Sanchez and his wife, 31-year-old April Sanchez, deceased from gunshot wounds. Authorities reported that Sergio Sanchez had an extensive violent criminal history and did not want to return to prison after shooting his wife.

On 02/17/2021, the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a reported altercation on Albert Magee Road in Mount Hermon, Louisiana. Deputies encountered Dustin A. Crain, age 28, at the location. According to official reports, a confrontation occurred, during which deputies discharged their firearms, fatally striking Crain.

On February 17, 2021, 32-year-old Hector Javier Puga was killed by police following a pursuit in Hesperia, California. The incident began when California Highway Patrol officers identified Puga's vehicle, a white Ford Expedition, matching the description from a shooting incident the previous evening on Interstate 15. When officers attempted a traffic stop, Puga did not stop. Police escalated a chase involving both CHP and San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department deputies. The chase concluded at the intersection of Peach Avenue and Catalpa Street, where Puga's vehicle became disabled. After an hour-long standoff, during which officers fired beanbags, Puga exited the vehicle and was shot by officers after allegedly reaching for a firearm. Three bystanders—a man, a woman, and a 14-year-old boy—were injured by stray bullets during the incident. The San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office later reviewed the shooting and deemed the use of lethal force legally justified.

On February 17, 2021, deputies from the Rowan County Sheriff's Office attempted to arrest 28-year-old James Edward Coe for outstanding warrants. Deputies observed Coe and another individual leaving a residence in Salisbury and getting into a white Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck.

The deputies, looking for a reason to stop him, stated that Coe had brake light and tag violations. This explanation was used to escalate a high-speed chase that continued until the I-85 southbound ramp near Julian Road. Coe reportedly exited the vehicle and fired a long gun, striking a police vehicle. Deputies returned fire as Coe fled into a wooded area, allegedly continuing to shoot at pursuing officers.
Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Rowan County Sheriff's Office, Salisbury Police Department, and North Carolina State Highway Patrol, responded and established a perimeter. Coe was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds.
