On January 17, 2021, Grant County Sheriff's Deputy Matthew Sneed responded to a domestic situation involving a stabbing at a residence in the 3200 block of South Central Avenue in Marion, Indiana. As Deputy Sneed approached the house, Daniel Young, 25, allegedly drove a Honda Civic toward the deputy. In response, Sneed jumped onto the hood of the moving vehicle and shot and killed Young through the windshield of the car.

Deputies were called around 10:15 a.m. to a shooting in the parking lot of the Tuckahoe Motorcycle Club. When deputies arrived, they found Ely Grimes, 47, of Fredericksburg, with a gunshot wound to the chest. George Batts was still in the parking lot with a handgun. He reportedly refused commands to drop the weapon, pointed the weapon toward deputies, and deputies shot and killed him.

On January 17, 2021, at approximately 1:30 a.m., a Warsaw Police Department officer attempted to stop a vehicle on US-42 in Warsaw, Kentucky, for speeding. The driver, 31-year-old Josh Hodges of Florence, Kentucky, did not stop. Police escalated a chase during which he lost control of the vehicle while navigating a curve and collided with a concrete wall. A passenger, 54-year-old Shanda Marie Withrow of Hamilton, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the crash site. Hodges and another passenger sustained injuries and were sent to a hospital.

During the check, shots were fired from outside the club, with at least one bullet striking the building. Officers observed Johnson exchanging gunfire with an unidentified individual. Johnson fled the scene on foot. Officer Nathan Ronan pursued Johnson into a dark alley. Johnson allegedly produced a firearm. Officer Ronan opened fire, striking Johnson. On January 16, 2021, around 11 p.m., Michigan City police attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle that refused to stop. Police escalated a high-speed pursuit. Just after midnight on January 16, 2021, Kent Police officers responded to a report of a robbery involving a firearm at the East Hill Market. The store clerk reported that an individual had been loitering before approaching the counter, pulling out a gun, and demanding money before leaving. Officers noted the description of the individual matched one from an earlier robbery at a nearby convenience store. A responding officer observed a vehicle rapidly leaving a nearby parking lot. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, initiating a pursuit. During the chase, the vehicle veered off the road at high speed and collided with a tree, resulting in the driver's death.

On January 15, 2021, a California Highway Patrol officer attempted to stop a speeding vehicle on the 405 Freeway. The driver refused to stop. Upon arrival, deputies found a sheriff’s officer suffering from a gunshot wound. They also found Kershawn Geiger, who had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities reported that gunfire occurred during an encounter between an officer and Geiger. The injured officer was transported for medical treatment. On December 22, 2020, Trooper Christopher Baldner stopped an SUV driven by Tristan Goods for speeding on the New York State Thruway in Ulster County. During the traffic stop, Baldner allegedly sprayed pepper spray into the vehicle, prompting Goods to drive away. Police escalated a chase on the Thruway at high speed. Baldner rammed the family’s SUV twice with his patrol vehicle, causing it to overturn several times. Eleven-year-old passenger Monica Goods was ejected from the vehicle and killed. On January 13, 2021, at approximately 3:30 a.m., Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) troopers and Oklahoma City Police Department officers escalated a chase of a stolen Lincoln Navigator up to 115 mph. The vehicle was driven by 17-year-old Vinnie Hamlet, the twin brother of Chris Hamlet, with Chris and a 17-year-old female passenger. Troopers used a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) maneuver, directly causing the SUV to flip multiple times and land in a field near Southwest 119th Street and South Meridian Avenue. Vinnie Hamlet was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Chris Hamlet and the female passenger sustained injuries but survived.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol conducted an internal self-investigation. The findings were presented to the District Attorney's Office, which determined that the deadly pursuit was justified.

On January 11, 2021, at approximately 5:16 p.m., Butler County Sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic violence report in the 6800 block of Yoakum Court at the Lakota Pointe Townhomes in Liberty Township. Junius Thomas, had allegedly kicked in the door of a residence, prompting the female occupant to flee and call 911. Upon arrival, deputies found Thomas armed and "extremely agitated." THE SWAT team was deployed. SWAT officers used an armored vehicle to breach the door. Thomas then appeared in the doorway and raised a gun toward the officers, at which point Deputy Ricky Phillips shot and killed Thomas. A subsequent autopsy revealed the presence of methamphetamine in Thomas's system. Four months later, Officer Phillips shot and injured someone during arrest again. A Butler County grand jury reviewed both incidents and declined to issue an indictment, determining that the use of force was justified.

On 01/10/2021 at approximately 3:37 a.m., Bentonville police officers responded to a domestic disturbance involving a family at a residence near NW Bella Vista Road and NW 6th Street. The incident involved a husband, his wife, their two young children, and the husband’s parents. Police reported that the husband’s father was seriously injured and treated by medical personnel. Officers stated that the wife and children were inside the home with Brian Williams. According to police accounts, when officers attempted to make contact, Williams moved toward them while holding a kitchen knife. Three officers opened fire, shooting and killing him. The shooting was investigated, and the district attorney later determined the use of force was justified. No charges were filed against the officers.

On January 10, 2021, around 1:40 a.m., Dyer Police Department officers attempted to stop a black Dodge Charger. The driver of the vehicle fled, leading officers on a pursuit. The driver eventually lost control of the vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway and roll over. Following the crash, the vehicle's two occupants fled on foot. Officers apprehended one individual, while the other, Mark Bivins, 28, continued to flee. During the foot chase, Bivins reportedly shot at officers, who then shot and killed him.

Around 11:30 p.m., deputies responded to a domestic incident and attempted to pull over a vehicle. Deputies made contact with Joseph Howell, attempting to negotiate with him. Howell reportedly fired two shots at deputies, leading to a brief pursuit. Deputies used their vehicles to disable Howell's, and shots were exchanged. Deputies shot and killed Howell.

Warren was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The incident, which was captured on video, sparked public outcry and demands for accountability.

On 01/09/2021, just after 9:30 a.m., deputies with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call from a residence on Sunburst Road in Victorville reporting unknown individuals attempting to break into the home. The caller was Betty Francois, age 91. Deputies arrived and Francois exited the home holding a shotgun. Deputies issued commands for her to put the firearm down. According to authorities, Francois did not comply and the firearm was pointed toward deputies. A deputy opened fire, shooting and killing her. Later reporting stated that Francois was blind and deaf. The shooting was placed under investigation and no charges against deputies were announced at the time of reporting. The names of the officers were never released.
