Officers located the vehicle parked at the Belmont Plaza Shopping Center with Jason Cain, 31, in the driver’s seat. Police blocked the vehicle in with police cars. Cain responded by trying to drive away, hitting a police car in the process. An officer opened fire, killing Cain. After being shot, the SUV with Cain accelerated and crashed into the front wall of the Harbor Freight store where it stopped. A female passenger was removed by police. Cain was transported to Saint Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital in critical condition, where he died on 12/19/2024. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is handling the investigation.

On December 16, 2024, at approximately 2:20 a.m., a fatal accident occurred on Derby Avenue in West Haven, Connecticut. Panjala Neeraj Goud, a 23-year-old originally from Bodhan, Telangana, India, was a passenger in a Hyundai Elantra traveling at high speed. The vehicle lost control on icy roads, veering off the roadway and spinning sideways into the parking lot of a Citgo gas station. The Hyundai collided with a parked West Haven police cruiser, leading to fatal injuries for Neeraj. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On 12/16/2024, at approximately 8:45 PM, El Monte Police Department officers responded to a disturbance call at a Target store in the 3600 block of Peck Road in El Monte, California. A man reportedly displayed a firearm inside the store. Officers escalated a chase after the man, who fled the scene in a black sedan.

The man abandoned the vehicle near the 11000 block of Main Street and continued on foot. Officers pursued him on foot, and an unknown confrontation occurred. Police opened fire and killed him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Upon arrival, deputies encountered 32-year-old Jefte Vargas Ramirez, who reportedly had rocks. Deputies opened fire, killing Ramirez, who was pronounced dead at the location.
