On June 22, 2025, a man thought to be involved in a shooting in Mesquite, Texas, fled southbound on Interstate 35. While being pursued by police near Tours Road, the man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The vehicle struck another car and a road sign before stopping. Officers confirmed the man’s death and launched an investigation.

Gloria Zamora, a 40-year-old fitness influencer and mother of seven, was fatally shot along with her date, Hector Garduno, in a parking lot outside a sushi restaurant in Fontana. Zamora’s estranged husband, Thomas Alberto Tamayo Lizarraga, ambushed the pair and shot both of them. An off-duty deputy with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department heard the gunfire, responded to the scene, and fatally shot Lizarraga. Zamora and Garduno later died at local hospitals. Zamora had recently spoken publicly about her divorce and domestic abuse.

On June 22, 2025, Delta Police responded to a reported shooting at 1572 G96 Lane involving 75-year-old Steven Grubb. Officers arrived to find that Grubb had allegedly shot and wounded his 57-year-old son and the son's 35-year-old girlfriend before barricading himself inside the home. A Special Response Team was deployed and attempted negotiation. When officers entered, they found Grubb dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The two shooting victims were hospitalized in stable condition. The incident remains under investigation by the Delta Police Department.

Victoria Police attempted to stop a red Nissan after a 911 caller alleged a man in a red hoodie pointed a gun. The driver refused to stop. Officers escalated an aggressive chase through Victoria that ended when the vehicle lost control and struck a utility pole in the 3800 block of North Ben Jordan Street. Rear passenger Aidan Hewer, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene. A gun was never found.

A Victoria police chase on June 22, 2025, ended in a crash that killed rear passenger T’Andre Kitchens, 17. On June 22, 2025, at approximately 2:05 a.m., Irmo Police responded to reports of a fight in a vehicle in the New Friarsgate area. The vehicle left the scene. Police followed, leading to a pursuit that ended at Broad River Road. Officers then physically restrained a 45-year-old male driver. Shortly after restraint, he had trouble breathing and was taken via EMS and officers to the hospital, where he died on June 25, 2025.

On June 21, 2025, an off-duty deputy with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department shot and killed a man in the parking lot of Falcon Ridge Town Center in Fontana. Police say the 45-year-old man had fatally shot a 43-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman moments earlier. The off-duty deputy intervened and shot him and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

Clay County deputies sought to arrest Dajshon Travis Asbell on multiple outstanding warrants. Officers found Asbell with another person, who allegedly fled with him into a building where they barricaded themselves. The second person later exited, but Asbell remained. Police deployed tear gas and breached the building using a tactical vehicle. Asbell allegedly exited holding an edged weapon and moved toward officers. Police released a K9, which Asbell allegedly threw aside. Officers then shot him, deployed less-lethal rounds as he continued to resist, and arrested him. Asbell died three days later from gunshot wounds.

Seattle Police Department officers responded around 4:51 a.m. to a domestic violence call at 32nd Avenue East and East Madison Street. Officers found a woman with a gunshot wound to her lower back who collapsed into their arms. While officers provided aid, Daniel Jolliffe fired multiple shots from an upstairs window at officers and the victim. Officer Leonardo Bassi Rodriguez returned fire and struck Jolliffe. SPD set a perimeter and engaged SWAT and Hostage Negotiation Team efforts. Jolliffe fired at a drone, barricaded inside, and ignored commands. After roughly an hour, SWAT used a robot and explosive charge to breach. Officers found Jolliffe unresponsive in a bedroom. King County Medical Examiner later ruled the death as suicide by self-inflicted gunshot wound, not by police fire. The woman was transported to Harborview Medical Center in serious but stable condition. SPD Force Investigation Team, Office of Police Accountability, and Office of Inspector General opened investigations. Officer Rodriguez was placed on administrative leave and body-worn video was released within 72 hours.

On 06/20/2025, Brent Bucholtz was reported lying in the roadway on Half Day Road in mental distress. Officers responded for a welfare check at his residence in the 900 block. Brent, 59, emerged from the front door holding a knife, showing signs of agitation and disorientation. He reportedly moved toward officers while still holding a knife. Officers opened fire and struck him multiple times at close range. Brent collapsed and died on the scene. The Lake County Coroner confirmed multiple gunshot wounds as the cause of death. The Lake County Major Crime Task Force is investigating. No officers were reported injured.

On 06/20/2025, deputies from the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a woman being shot at a home on Jasmine Street. Richard Skyles III exited the residence armed and fired at deputies. Deputies returned fire and struck Skyles. He was transported to a hospital and later pronounced dead. The woman was found dead inside the residence. The names of the deputies involved have not been released. Investigations are ongoing.

On June 20, 2025, at approximately 11:17 PM, a Lodi Police Department officer observed a vehicle driving recklessly near South Cherokee Lane and East Vine Street. The officer activated emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop. The driver did not stop. Police escalated a chase that ended when the vehicle entered the on-ramp to southbound Highway 99 at Century Boulevard. The vehicle lost control, rolled over, and came to rest on its roof. Emergency personnel extracted the 19-year-old driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger exited independently and was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The San Joaquin County Officer Involved Critical Incident Protocol was activated. An investigation is being conducted by Lodi PD, the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office, the California DOJ, the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner, and CHP is leading the crash reconstruction.

On 06/20/2025 at approximately 4:45 PM, Greenville County deputies responded to reports of an armed robbery at the Quick & Fast convenience store on White Horse Road. Inside the store, deputies say Trey Rashon Lovett displayed a knife and demanded cash. Deputies located Lovett nearby and a K-9 handler deployed the K-9 to apprehend him. The K-9 bit Lovett while he was restrained. Deputies applied first aid while awaiting EMS. Lovett was transported by ambulance to Greenville Memorial Hospital, where he became unresponsive and later died. The Greenville County Coroner’s Office reported he suffered cardiac arrest following the K-9 bite. The nature and severity of the dog bite injuries were not disclosed. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and Coroner’s Office are investigating. The officer was not named.

On 06/20/2025 at approximately 6:14 p.m., a Chula Vista police officer was speeding westbound on Olympic Parkway with lights and sirens activated, responding to a radio call. Simon Robledo was traveling eastbound on his motorcycle, approaching Windingwalk Street. The police vehicle turned left into Robledo’s path, resulting in a forceful collision with the passenger side of the patrol car. Robledo suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The officer was evaluated at the same hospital and released. The California Highway Patrol has taken over the collision investigation.

The deputy escalated a high-speed pursuit on Highway 450, during which Townsend’s motorcycle collided with a pickup truck in the 5300 block area. Townsend and his passenger, Amber Cisneros (44), were both killed at the scene from crash injuries. No injuries were reported among deputies or the truck driver. The Wyoming Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office has not released the deputy’s name.

The deputy escalated the pursuit on Highway 450, during which Jonathan Townsend’s motorcycle, carrying passenger Amber M. Cisneros, collided with a pickup truck in the 5300 block area. Both Townsend (43) and Cisneros (44) died at the scene from crash injuries. The Wyoming Highway Patrol is investigating.

On June 19, 2025 at approximately 7:20 p.m., a Phoenix Police Department officer was traveling northbound on Cave Creek Road when a collision occurred at the intersection with Pinnacle Peak Road. Erik Sosteno Yrigollen was driving westbound and ran a red light, striking the passenger side of the marked police Tahoe. Yrigollen was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where he later died. The officer received non-life-threatening injuries and was also evaluated at the hospital. Phoenix PD detectives, along with the Arizona Department of Public Safety and Maricopa County Medical Examiner, are conducting the investigation.

On 06/19/2025, Brazoria County Sheriff’s deputies attempted a traffic stop on Daniel Areh, who was wanted on assault warrants. Deputies escalated a chase during which Areh crashed into a ditch near SH-288. Areh exited the vehicle holding a knife and ran away from police into thick woods. Deputies pursued him on foot and opened fire, striking Areh multiple times. He was transported by Life Flight to a hospital, where he died. Investigation is being conducted by the Texas Rangers.

On the morning of June 19, 2025, at approximately 10:45 a.m., officers assigned to a paid detail were flagged down in the 1900 block of Tchoupitoulas Street regarding a shoplifting incident at Walmart. Officers located a man matching the description near the store. When they attempted to intervene, he fled on foot into the street. As they pursued him for a short distance, he produced two knives and stabbed himself in the neck multiple times. Officers fired a taser at the dying man. The man was transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries later that day. The death is being treated as a suicide and is classified as an "in-custody death," and both the Independent Police Monitor and Federal Monitor were present on scene.

On June 19, 2025 just before 3 p.m., Escambia County deputies received a tip that a man with warrants was working inside the Arby’s on US 98. Deputies located Daniel Lewis Hayes, 37, in the dining area. He fled behind the counter when they approached. Two deputies pursued him; Hayes knocked one deputy down. He then retrieved a knife and confronted three deputies who closed in on him. All three deputies opened fire, striking and killing Hayes in the parking lot. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is conducting an independent investigation. Hayes was an Arby’s employee for about 12 years, described by family as humble, smiling, and generous.

On arrival, officers encountered Victor Manuel Carrillo on the second floor. Carrillo was seen holding a knife and throwing ceramic pots and pieces of wood at officers. LAPD deployed less-lethal munitions, then escalated to lethal force. Officers opened fire, and Carrillo was pronounced dead at the scene. On May 8, 2025, deputies from the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop Antwan Washington for a moving violation of failure to yield. Washington did not stop. Kershaw County deputies escalated a high-speed pursuit that reached speeds up to 85 mph, traversing dirt roads, highways, and wooded terrain. The chase ended near Providence Road when Washington crashed his vehicle. Deputies secured the scene, and Washington was transported by air ambulance to a hospital. He remained hospitalized for over a month before dying from his injuries on June 19, 2025. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is leading the investigation.

On June 18, 2025 around 3:30 p.m., Chautauqua County deputies responded to a reported domestic dispute at a residence on Mina French Creek Road. Deputies encountered Mark W. Bemis, 66, holding a shotgun outside the home. He fired a round that struck a deputy in the hand. Deputies then opened fire and struck Bemis. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The injured deputy was taken to a hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The New York Attorney General’s Office and District Attorney’s Forensic Identification Team are investigating. Deputies involved were wearing body cameras, which were active at the time.

On June 18, 2025, Chesterton Police responded to undisclosed reasons near the Hilton Garden Inn on Gateway Boulevard. Officers contacted Joseph Gerber outside the hotel. Gerber fired at officers and struck Deputy Nolan Mancera in the hand. Officers opened fire. Gerber then shot himself in the head and died outside of the hotel. The Indiana State Police is investigating. The Porter County Coroner ruled the death a suicide with multiple gunshot wounds.

On June 18, 2025, at approximately 8:12 p.m., Greeley Police tried to stop Theodore Rybus on 18th Street near the university for an active warrant. Rybus drove away in his car. Police escalated chase and moments later, they located Rybus on foot near the Garden Theatre area of campus. Officers ordered him to stop and drop his gun. Rybus turned toward officers and officers reported being fired upon. Two officers opened.fire, striking Rybus. After being wounded by officers, Rybus shot himself in the head. Officers rendered first aid and summoned EMS. Rybus was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Weld County Coroner ruled the death a suicide due to a self-inflicted gunshot, with additional wounds from officer fire. The Colorado 19th Judicial Critical Incident Response Team and Indiana State Police (for collaborative oversight) are investigating.

On June 18, 2025, deputies tracked a black Toyota via license-plate reader after Raymond Benedetti’s mother reported it stolen. Deputies located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on 38th Place. Benedetti exited the car, raised his hands, then allegedly "reached into his waistband." One deputy fired one round as Benedetti "made a motion." Both deputies then opened fire, striking Benedetti multiple times. Benedetti was taken to Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital and died there. The passenger, who remained inside the vehicle, was not injured. Benedetti had been unarmed and there is no indication so far that he had been a threat to police. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is conducting an independent criminal investigation. The case will proceed to a grand jury. No names of the deputies have been released as of now.

They left with an unknown sum and fled to a nearby Super 8 motel. Groton and Connecticut State Police located their getaway vehicle parked behind the motel by 5 p.m. They established a perimeter around the room where the Fallons were found. The pair claimed to be armed with firearms and explosives, triggering a 12-hour standoff, evacuation of guests, and deployment of SWAT and bomb technicians. Police communicated attempts were made through the door. At approximately 11:05 p.m., two gunshots sounded inside the room. A drone reconnaissance confirmed both men had been shot. Police entered the room, evacuated remaining people, and rendered medical assistance. Zachary Fallon died early on June 13 at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital. Shaun Fallon survived initially, was hospitalized, then died from his injuries on Monday, June 17, 2025. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is determining final causes of death. Investigators reported no firearms or explosive devices were recovered inside the room and believe wounds likely came from inside the room, not police fire. The Connecticut State Police and Groton Police remain in command of the ongoing investigation; the case is under review and any additional details about officer involvement or use of force have not been released.

On June 17, 2025, Albuquerque Police responded to a report of an armed disturbance in the parking area of Hotel Parq Central. Upon arrival, officers found Desiree Herrera holding a firearm that belonged to a hotel security guard. She was in a state of mental health crisis. She reportedly first entered the parking area and took the guard’s firearm during a dispute. She then discharged it once at an SUV before police arrival. Officers arrived moments later, and believed she fired at them. Police opened fire immediately. Herrera fell to the ground and died in the hotel parking lot.Desiree Danielle Herrera was born on January 28, 1989, and was described by family and community members as warm, caring, and active in the Legacy Church baptism ministry.

6/17/2025: Baltimore Police allegedly detected suspected gun possession by Abdullah while police were patrolling in an unmarked cruiser. "Officer T", not further identified, in a first attempt to detain, exited the car but Abdullah broke contact and fled on foot. Detective Yancy and two detectives pursued. Yancy tackled Abdullah and a single shot sounded. Abdullah had fired at Yancy’s vest. Yancy took cover. The other two detectives drew their weapons and fired in return. Collectively, they discharged 38 rounds. One detective was struck in the foot amidst the exchange. Abdullah was transported to Shock Trauma and died at 11:14 p.m. Abdullah was a known Baltimore “arabber” which is a city tradition of horse-drawn produce vendors. He walked his route daily and mentored neighborhood youth. Community leaders and family members described him as humble, generous, and a local legend in preserving cultural history. He carried fruit to children and extended credit to elders, actions filmed in a 2014 feature by Eater and acknowledged in a public outpouring following his death. After the shooting, a crowd formed. Bystanders confronted police, delaying immediate aid for Abdullah for several minutes. Baltimore’s Police Accountability Board called an emergency meeting. Outcry has centered on whether the level of force matched the threat and about Abdullah's declining mental health. Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division is leading the review.

Five people were inside the car. Three individuals were rescued from the water, including the driver, and transported to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries. Two passengers, Melanie E. Ross and Portsha C. Sapp, were found deceased in the submerged vehicle. The vehicle was recovered from about 40 feet underwater around 3:30 a.m. on June 19. No ferry was docked at the time of the incident. The Washington State Patrol is leading the investigation.

On June 16 around 7:44 p.m., deputies and fire crews responded to a burning RV in an encampment off Trento Lane near Mustang Pond. They located Denny Benka standing on his RV porch. A deputy repeatedly told him to move back so firefighters could safely extinguish the blaze. Benka ignored commands and reportedly retreated into his trailer with the hatchet and returned with a scoped pneumatic rifle. When he raised and aimed the weapon at the deputy, the deputy shot Benka once, killing him on site. Benka was later pronounced dead. Nevada State Police Investigation Division is leading the review. The unnamed officer was cleared.

Red Bluff Police responded to a report of a stolen bicycle. Officers attempted to detain Gary Leon Eagle Jr., who allegedly resisted arrest. Officers physically restrained Eagle and placed him in custody. He became unresponsive shortly after the arrest and was declared dead on scene. The incident is under investigation.
