Upon arrival, as the apartment door was opened, 31-year-old Kevin Reyes Portillo allegedly pointed a firearm at the officers. Police opened fire, striking Portillo. On 05/24/2025, a Sampson County deputy attempted a traffic stop on a motorcycle for a registration violation around 9:30 a.m. on US 421 near Clinton. The driver refused to stop, and deputies escalated a pursuit that looped through secondary roads and returned to US 421. Deputies claimed to have seen a gun on the motorcyclist during the chase. Near Kitty Fork Road, the motorcyclist lost control and crashed. After the crash, deputies claimed the man reached for the weapon, and a deputy opened fire, striking him. He was transported to Sampson Regional Medical Center and later pronounced dead. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is conducting an investigation.

On 05/24/2025 at about 9:33 p.m., Warren police attempted a traffic stop on a black Chrysler 300 driving recklessly near Van Dyke and Miller. The vehicle refused to yield and a pursuit ensued. The chase ended at the intersection of 9 Mile Road & Van Dyke, when the Chrysler struck another car driven by a 71-year-old woman. She was transported to a hospital and later pronounced dead. Occupants of a second struck vehicle sustained non-serious injuries. The fleeing driver abandoned the vehicle, attempted to flee on foot, but was immediately apprehended.

Houston police confronted a Latino man after multiple reports that he was threatening people with a baseball bat and had previously charged a security guard. Officers located him near Wirt Road and Hammerly Boulevard and issued commands in English and Spanish to drop the bat. The man ignored orders, picked up a chunk of concrete, and advanced toward officers while armed with the bat. Officers deployed Tasers multiple times, which failed due to his heavy clothing. On May 22, 2025, around 7:55 p.m., Houston police used aerial surveillance to follow a stolen Dodge Charger from the 11200 block of South Gessner Road to West Bellfort Avenue. The vehicle struck a U-turning vehicle in the 7500 block of West Bellfort, ejecting the bystander driver, a man in his 40s, who died at the hospital. The fleeing vehicle then crashed into a light pole, causing a fire. While firefighters attempted to pull him from the vehicle, the man fatally shot himself. Sandoval’s family described him as a devoted husband and father. There were 2 fatalities.

Several passengers fled; Ibrahim remained behind the wheel and exited the vehicle. Sgt. Jesse Ronk confronted Ibrahim and, within 17 seconds of perceiving Ibrahim pointing a gun with a tactical flashlight at him, fired four times, striking Ibrahim.Deputies found two loaded handguns—one stolen—inside the SUV. Ibrahim was transported to the hospital and later died.

A woman reported that a man, identified as 65-year-old Robert Edward Davis, had cut her with a knife. Officers used less-lethal measures, including 40mm launchers and a Taser, but Davis moved toward Officer Timothy Morin, who then fired his handgun, striking Davis.
