On August 15, 2024, at approximately 10:20 p.m., the Laurens County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting a domestic dispute at a residence in the 2000 block of Sudie Pearl Jones Road in Alamo, Georgia. Upon arrival, a deputy found that the suspect, Curtis “CJ” Glen Purvis Jr., had already left the scene. While the deputy was speaking with the victim, Purvis Jr. returned, driving his vehicle into another car and striking the victim's father. In response, the deputy fired at Purvis Jr.'s vehicle before it came to a stop.

Purvis Jr. then exited the vehicle, entered the home, and stabbed the initial victim. When he emerged from the house armed with a knife, the deputy shot him. Purvis Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene. Both the stabbing victim and the victim's father were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Upon arrival, they discovered 51-year-old Cotina Louise Fuller suffering from gunshot wounds. She died from her injuries at the scene. Investigators identified her husband, 44-year-old Wayne Anthony Fuller Jr., as a person of interest in the homicide. He was reported fleeing the scene in a gold SUV.

A statewide alert was issued, and later that day, Spalding County Sheriff's deputies spotted Fuller's vehicle. When they attempted a traffic stop, Fuller fled, initiating a pursuit that extended into Henry County. The chase concluded near the intersection of Georgia Highway 155 and Greenwood Industrial Parkway after deputies executed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver to halt the vehicle.

Mayfield PD, the Graves County Sheriff’s Office and SWAT attempted to arrest a man wanted for incest and child rape in Tennessee. The man had communicated to police that he planned to kill himself. Three children, ages 7, 5 and 16 months were abducted after a domestic violence situation on Virginia Beach by 36-year-old Dana Demetrius Plummer. Virginia State Police generated an Amber Alert and the man was found driving a vehicle with all 3 children. Upon arrival, officers heard gunshots from within the home.

Inside, officers discovered two teenage girls, each with gunshot wounds. Both were transported to Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University; one was in stable condition, while the other sustained critical injuries.

In the backyard, officers found 41-year-old Ashley Lynn Nolan and her husband, 43-year-old Officer Thomas Joseph Nolan, both deceased from gunshot wounds. A firearm was recovered at the scene.

Investigators determined that Officer Nolan fatally shot his wife, Ashley, and wounded their two daughters before dying by suicide.

On August 12, 2024, around 7:00 p.m., Warner Robins Police officers responded to a report of a man with a gun in the 200 block of North 6th Street. Police alleged that Mikhal Anthony Concepcion fired at the officers and into a nearby home, attempting to force entry. Police shot an unknown number of bullets at Concepcion. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is conducting an independent investigation, with findings to be submitted to the Houston County District Attorney’s Office for review.

Family members described Concepcion as a beloved father, son, grandson, nephew, and uncle, noting that he was approaching his 21st birthday in October. They believe he struggled with untreated depression and obvious mental health issues.

George Edward Mulligan Junior was involved in what was initially reported as a domestic dispute. Police arrived and found a woman in the backyard. They allege that someone fired shots toward them from inside the home. No one was hit. Police moved the woman to safety. A perimeter was established and back up arrived in the form of front Royal Police Department, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Virginia State Police, Winchester Police Department, Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office, establishing a giant police presence and very tense SWAT situation onto the home where the man, and two children were still inside under massive police pressure. Police fired gas canisters inside of the residence while the children were still inside. Police then brought out the children sometime after the CS gas assault. A drone was sent inside of the house and found the man dead from suicide under police duress.

On August 11, 2024, at approximately 1:45 p.m., 85-year-old Sarah Jackson of Steens, Mississippi, was involved in a fatal collision on Highway 12 near Billy Kidd Road, northeast of Columbus. Lowndes County Sheriff's Deputy Rachel Basher, 28, was responding to a disturbance call with her vehicle's lights and siren activated. Both vehicles were traveling west on Highway 12 when Deputy Basher's vehicle collided with the left side of Jackson's vehicle. Jackson was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, where she died from her injuries. Deputy Basher sustained minor injuries and was treated and released. The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.

On August 11, 2024, at approximately 12:31 p.m., Long Beach Police Department officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at a residence on Kuyrkendall Place in Long Beach, Mississippi. Upon arrival, officers encountered 43-year-old Justin Brown, who allegedly fired at them. Officers returned fire, prompting Brown to retreat and barricade himself inside the home. Family members present were able to exit the residence safely.

The standoff lasted nearly four hours, during which law enforcement made multiple attempts to contact Brown. SWAT teams from Biloxi, Gulfport, and Harrison County, along with other agencies, assisted in the operation. Eventually, officers entered the residence and found Brown deceased.
