On August 11, 2024, at approximately 1:20 a.m., a 911 caller reported a man waving a "machine gun" near a Verizon store at the intersection of Lexington Road and Gaines School Road in Athens, Georgia. Athens-Clarke County Police officers arrived and identified 26-year-old Marquavious Sims armed at the location. Upon seeing the officers, Sims fled across the street into the QuikTrip gas station parking lot. Officers pursued him on foot, repeatedly commanding him to drop the weapon.

According to police, Sims turned and fired at the officers. Two officers opened fire on him and struck him a number of times. Sims was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is conducting an independent investigation into the shooting. Upon completion, the findings will be submitted to the Clarke County District Attorney’s Office for review.

The chase ended when VanderZiel collided with a flatbed truck making a turn on Washington Boulevard in Laurel, resulting in his immediate death. Officer Rodriguez did not stop to render aid, report the collision, or notify emergency services. He returned to Anne Arundel County and continued his shift without reporting the incident. On April 2, 2025, following an investigation by the Maryland Attorney General's Office, Officer Rodriguez was indicted on charges including manslaughter, leaving the scene of a fatal accident, and misconduct in office.

Imani Jackson, 46, was chased on foot by Phoenix PD on 08/10/2024 after a report of him having what sounded like warning shots near a group of people near 27th Avenue and Van Buren Street and then leaving. Police located Jackson’s vehicle near 25th Avenue and Buckeye Road and attempted a traffic stop. Police are seen approaching him with guns drawn and Jackson fled on foot with police in pursuit. During the chase, officers claimed that he had reached for his waistband. A firearm was allegedly recovered at the scene.

The autopsy report for Imani Jackson has not been disclosed. BWC shows that he was shot from behind while running away. The distance and low light makes it impossible to see him reaching for anything on BWC from the perspective of the shooter officer's BWC. Police had stated that he had reached for his waistband. He was seen wearing loose pajama bottoms on all videos. Police allege that they found a handgun they claim to be his in a nearby yard but not immediately on scene.

On the evening of August 7, 2024, Sumter County Sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 1100 block of South Georgia Tech Parkway in Americus, Georgia. An unnamed woman was waiting at a bus stop on the N. Freeway frontage Road when the Montgomery County Sheriff’s office and the Gulf Coast Defenders Task Office hunted a vehicle at high speed, which crashed into the woman at the bus stop and another vehicle. The woman died.

The Kern County Sheriff's Office was sent to the 8000 block of Melody Lane in Onyx to investigate a restraining order violation. Police made contact with Austin Springer, who allegedly pointed a CO2-powered BB gun at deputies. Officers responded by firing, killing Springer. An internal review later confirmed the use of force was within policy.

Houston police allege that they saw a trespasser with a gun. Police alleged that he had a warrant and resisted arrest. Police claim did they wrestled with him for control of the gun. A female officer shot and killed him.

This was Officer Jillian McGowan’s second shooting. She had previously killed Rufino Lara. There are renewed complaints by the family of Lara that eyewitnesses were ignored when the officer was cleared.

Police chased a vehicle at high-speed until it crashed, ejecting passenger Javian Rivera who died. Police did not immediately admit the pursuit which was witnessed by bystanders.

Dennis Thornton was allegedly intoxicated and throwing things from an overpass. Police arrived, shot him with a taser. Police claim he “resisted” and an unknown number of officers allegedly restrained him in a “wrap.” It is unclear whether this is a BOLO wrap or what type but some type of tying or hog-tying device was applied. He died during arrest. Police blamed his death on intoxication and the fact that he had walked for a long distance on the highway prior to police assault. Snare wraps, tasers and violent arrests are known to kill people commonly. It is unknown what role walking for miles or intoxication had to do with his apparently physically violent death in police custody. Police claim that his body temperature upon death was 108 degrees. Tasers and certain drugs can enhance this scenario but one must consider the apparently considerable physical violence as police and taser as well as police are presenting “excited delirium”, intoxication and heat exposure as cause of death of a man who was subjected to taser electrocution and a violent arrest just prior to death. Excited delirium is not considered to be a valid medical diagnosis by the medical community but this bogus diagnosis is commonly used by police to blame deaths in police custody on.

The incident occurred early on the morning of August 6, 2024, when Vallejo police initiated a traffic stop near Sonoma Boulevard and Lemon Street. The driver of the gray Mercedes fled from the stop, prompting a high-speed chase. The pursuit, which lasted for approximately two miles, reached speeds of 75 mph. The chase ended at the intersection of Sonoma Boulevard and Tennessee Street when the fleeing vehicle collided with a blue Subaru Outback. The collision resulted in a fatality of a passenger in the Mercedes and caused the Subaru to catch fire. Five other individuals were transported to hospitals with injuries. Police discovered a firearm in the vehicle, and the Solano County Major Crimes Task Force has taken over the investigation.

Lubbock County and Lynn County SWAT created a standoff for so far unclear reasons against Mychal Montalvo in his home. Police used robots, K9s and engaged in a gun battle with him. Police claim that someone’s bullets hit their armored vehicle, but it is unclear at this time whose bullets hit as there were two counties of SWAT officers firing at Montalvo. Police revealed that he may have guns and narcotics as the only reason to explain the fatal swap war so far.
