On November 30, 2025, Omaha Police Department detectives and members of OPD’s Assault and Gang units were tracking a vehicle connected to an earlier shooting in Omaha. The suspect was linked to a separate shooting at a Phil’s Foodway, where a man in his 60s was shot but sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Officers followed the vehicle to a QuikTrip gas station near 32nd and L Streets in south Omaha. The suspect entered the men’s restroom, and when police attempted to get him to exit, he opened fire, injuring multiple officers. Officers returned fire, killing the suspect identified as 28-year-old Juan Melgar-Ayala. Three (or by some reports four) officers were injured — two by gunfire and one by shrapnel — but all were said to have non-life-threatening injuries and later were placed on critical incident leave per department policy.

On 11/30/2025 police responded to a report of an armed man inside a Walgreens on Dorsett Road in Maryland Heights. Officers encountered Jacob Carl Mercer and under unclear circumstances police opened fire and killed him. Police reported that a shot was fired by Mercer before officers responded with gunfire. Family members told media that Mercer had recently gone through a breakup before the incident. The investigation is pending.

On 11/30/2025 police were notified by an out of state agency that a domestic violence suspect who was believed to be suicidal and homicidal had fled the area. Officers identified the man at a hotel on Red Wolf Place and requested support. Deputies and troopers converged on the location and attempted contact. After several minutes an unclear confrontation occurred and police opened fire and killed him. The investigation is pending.

On 11/29/2025, Kentucky State Police troopers from Post 14 went to a home on KY 1715 in Martha, Kentucky to look for a woman with active arrest warrants for assault. A neighboring resident, 69 year old Timothy Keeton, came out of his home and told the troopers to turn their cruiser lights off or he would shoot them out. He went back inside, then came out again holding a firearm. Troopers ordered him to drop the gun. Police report that he raised the gun in their direction, and troopers opened fire and killed him. No one else was reported injured. The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team is conducting an investigation.

On 11/29/2025 deputies responded to a domestic violence call in a rural area outside Tucson. Police located a man who had been firing outside a home. He walked toward a deputy despite commands to stop and produced a firearm. The deputy opened fire. The man died shortly after midnight.

On 11/28/2025 police responded to a robbery call at a convenience store where a man threatened a clerk with a handgun and fired a shot. The clerk disarmed him. The man retrieved a rifle from a vehicle and returned toward the store. As the clerk signaled officers for help he raised the rifle toward police. Officers opened fire and he died at a hospital.

On 11/28/2025 officers responded to two calls reporting erratic behavior near Claremont Boulevard and Andrew Drive. Diego Alfonso Rios entered a vehicle and drove off before officers arrived. Police located the vehicle and stopped it. Officers believed he was impaired and instructed him to exit. A use of force occurred and Rios became unresponsive. Paramedics transported him to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau is conducting the investigation.

On 11/28/2025 officers responded to a family disturbance and a report that a man had stolen a vehicle and pistol from a home. Police located the man near Crosstimbers Street under the Hardy Toll Road overpass. As officers approached the man pointed a pistol at his own head. Officers repeatedly asked him to drop the weapon. During the confrontation the man shot himself while an officer simultaneously fired. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators are working to determine whether the fatal shot was self-inflicted or the result of police gunfire.

On 11/28/2025 officers responded to a report of a crowd arguing in the 800 block of 45th Street North in the Kingston community. Witnesses told police that a man in the crowd was armed with a gun. An officer encountered the man and during the interaction the officer shot him. The man was taken to UAB Hospital where he died at 12:19 a.m. A handgun was recovered from the scene. The body camera of the officer involved was activated. The state law enforcement agency has taken over the investigation.

On 11/28/2025, police responded to an incident in the 300 block of North McKinley Street in Coats. Police escalated their response during a confrontation with a man and an officer shot him. On 11/26/2025, Trenton police located Julias Jones at an apartment complex on Van Horn Road a few hours after he reportedly shot a security guard at a gentleman’s club in Inkster. Police made contact with him while he was inside a vehicle. Officers said he was holding a handgun during the encounter, and they opened fire. Jones died at the scene.

On 11/26/2025, Greeley officers responded to reports of a man outside the main entrance of North Colorado Medical Center. Police made contact with him near the hospital entrance. During the encounter, an officer opened fire and shot him. He died at the scene.

On 11/26/2025, a La Marque officer tried to stop a vehicle believed tied to a hit and run in Harris County and the driver refused to stop. Police escalated a chase toward Galveston Island at very fast speeds. Multiple agencies joined. The chase reached speeds over one hundred miles per hour on Broadway Avenue and the vehicle smashed into a concrete seawall barrier on the east end of the island. The crash tore the vehicle apart and the driver died at the scene.

On 11/26/2025, a 67-year-old woman, Cindy Wiatrek, was hit and killed around 6 a.m. on State Highway 123 South while a Seguin police officer was driving a department-issued vehicle on the way to work. The officer reported the crash immediately. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

On 11/25/2025, officers from Indianapolis and Franklin went to a logistics facility in Franklin to arrest Robert Bido, who had multiple felony warrants. Police located him inside a semi truck and gave repeated commands for him to come out. He did not exit. Officers escalated their response and opened fire. He was shot, removed from the vehicle, and later died. A firearm was recovered near him. State investigators are reviewing the shooting.

On 11/25/2025, troopers attempted a traffic stop on a speeding driver on Interstate 85 in Concord. The driver refused to stop and police escalated a high speed chase. The driver exited toward George Liles Parkway and ran a red light at high speed. The fleeing vehicle struck another car and killed the occupant. The fleeing driver escaped on foot and remains unaccounted for.

On 11/25/2025 deputies responded to a 911 call around 6:30 p.m. reporting suspicious activity at Dry Creek Park in Roseville. When deputies arrived they saw Jacob Cole Rushing holding a knife. Deputies attempted to de-escalate the situation. Rushing allegedly charged at one deputy. A deputy fired and struck him. He was declared dead at the scene. No other people were injured. The Placer County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting.

On 11/25/2025, an off-duty Monticello police officer struck a pedestrian at Pleasant Street and High Street. The man was walking through the intersection in the early morning when the officer hit him. He was transported to a hospital and died days later. The New York Attorney General Office of Special Investigation is reviewing the case.

On 11/24/2025 at about 8 p.m., Tucson Police responded to a residence in the 9000 block of East Cooper Street following a call from a juvenile who said a family member threatened him with a gun. Officers removed two children safely from the home while a male remained inside. During a standoff, police from the Hostage Negotiations Unit attempted to contact the individual. When the person exited the home, police shot him. Police rendered aid but the individual died at the scene.

On 11/24/2025, officers in Santa Maria attempted to stop a white Jeep reported driving erratically. The driver refused to stop and police escalated a short chase that was quickly terminated by officers. The driver continued at high speed through multiple intersections. Minutes later she crashed into another vehicle at Stowell Road and Bradley Road and was ejected. She died at the scene. The other vehicle’s occupants were not injured.

On 11/24/2025, deputies in Hillsboro conducted a welfare check at a home on Hill County Road 4243. At the front door, the man they were checking on was reported to have drawn a handgun. An exchange of gunfire followed. Additional deputies arrived and more shots were fired. The man was struck and died from his wounds. One deputy received minor injuries and was treated at the scene. On 11/24/2025, Willoughby police and a Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy went to a home in the 2800 block of Lost Nation Road near Grant Elementary School to investigate reported domestic violence involving a 70-year-old woman. Officers said the woman appeared to be in a suicidal mental health crisis, held a firearm and threatened to harm herself and the deputy. Police surrounded the home, closed Lost Nation Road and requested Grant Elementary to lock down, and called in the Western Lake County Emergency Response Team and Lake County Drone Team. Negotiators tried repeatedly to persuade her to surrender the gun and leave a back bedroom where she had barricaded herself. Under police duress and ongoing police presence, the woman died by a self-inflicted gunshot inside the home.

On 11/24/2025, Dallas police responded around 2 a.m. to a disturbance at 2026 Commerce Street in the downtown entertainment district. Officers found multiple people shot inside the location. Police encountered Kedric McDonald holding a firearm and shot him during the confrontation. McDonald died at the scene. On 11/23/2025, the Crockett Police Department identified Corbin Drake Lamb as the individual accused of continuous sexual abuse of a child. Law-enforcement attempted to locate him when he fled and during pursuit, he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound while officers were in contact.

On 11/23/2025, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal shooting at about 4:47 p.m. in the 300 block of Cloverdale Heights Way in Cloverdale. A 56-year-old man, Lawrence Cassidy, was identified as possibly involved. Later officers located his SUV in Healdsburg and tracked him to a residence on the 1500 block of Brush Creek Road in Santa Rosa. A SWAT team and negotiators responded, and Cassidy fired multiple shots from inside. During the roughly three-hour standoff law-enforcement deployed chemical agents and used a drone and bomb-disposal robot. They ultimately entered the residence and found Cassidy dead from a self-inflicted gunshot.

On 11/23/2025, Concord police responded to an assault with a firearm at a home on the 2600 block of Ward Way. The individual fled and returned to the residence. Police attempted repeated contact by phone, text and loudspeaker while officers surrounded the home. Officers later entered and found the individual dead from a self-inflicted gunshot while police were present.

On 11/23/2025, George County deputies attempted to serve a warrant on Nicholas Adam Parker. He barricaded himself inside a residence on BlackBerry Lane and fired at law enforcement. A SWAT team returned fire and Parker died at the scene.

On 11/23/2025, officers in Guntersville carried out an operation targeting underage sex crimes. When officers attempted to arrest Jack Andrew Smiley he resisted and fled. On 11/23/2025, officers from multiple agencies located Jaja Davis Jr on County Road 278 in Salem after accusing him of firing into an Opelika patrol car earlier that day. Police blocked the roadway and confronted him near a wooded area. Officers said Davis held a firearm during the encounter and they opened fire, killing him at the scene. Community members gathered afterward and said police used excessive force and denied them access to view the body. The investigation is being handled by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

On 11/23/2025 the Vanderburgh County Coroner identified Everett Nunn, age 58 of Evansville, as the man who died at Deaconess Midtown Hospital following a police-involved shooting on East Louisiana Street. The investigation by the Evansville Police Department remains open.

On 11/23/2025, police attempted a traffic stop near the Buena Vista Street onramp to Interstate 5. A passenger left the vehicle and continued moving away from officers toward a nearby neighborhood. A police dog located the man. Police reported that the man fired and killed the dog. On 11/22/2025, officers attempted a traffic stop on a gray Cadillac in Buena Park. The driver continued driving and the chase entered San Diego County along Interstate 5 near Camp Pendleton. Police reported that the man left the vehicle while holding a firearm and moved into a brush area. Officers surrounded the location and opened fire. On 11/22/2025 at approximately 6:41 p.m., deputies responded to a reported home invasion at a residence near Southwest 141st Street and 110th Avenue in the Richmond Heights neighborhood of Kendall. Four invaders attempted to forcibly enter the home. The homeowner fired toward them and struck one in the upper extremities. The injured suspect was transported by fire rescue to a hospital in critical condition and later died. The other three persons fled and remain at large.

On 11/22/2025, Montana Highway Patrol attempted a traffic stop on a suspected impaired driver who continued driving. Police escalated a high-speed chase along Lake Helena Drive. The vehicle failed to make the turn at Old Highway 12 and crashed through a fence and into a home. A 69-year-old woman in her bedroom was struck and killed. A 76-year-old man in the home was injured. On 11/22/2025, officers responded to a domestic disturbance call on Creekwood Drive in Greensboro. The man inside fired at officers prompting a shelter-in-place for neighbors. After negotiators released a juvenile from the home, police entered and found 62-year-old Paul Arthur Merchant and 38-year-old Alessandra Amador Merchant with gunshot wounds, both pronounced dead at the scene. On 11/22/2025, deputies were conducting an eviction at a home on the 1600 block of Highland Avenue in Vero Beach. Locksmith David Long had been hired to assist with access to the property. As deputies entered, a man inside opened fire and struck Long. Two deputies returned fire and the shooter was wounded and taken into custody. Long was transported to a hospital where he later died.

On 11/22/2025, deputies responded to a domestic violence threat involving Jesse G. Yaun, who reportedly threatened family members and threatened to burn the home.
