On May 17, 2024, at approximately 2:40 p.m., a Cobb County Police officer identified a stolen box-style truck near Mableton Parkway and Veterans Memorial Highway in Mableton, Georgia. The officer requested backup and followed the vehicle to a Chevron gas station on Old Floyd Road. As officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver, 40-year-old Clifford Jacolby Beck of Griffin, Georgia, rammed a civilian's car and multiple patrol vehicles in an effort to escape. Officers discharged their firearms, striking Beck. Following the shooting, the truck caught fire. Officers extricated Beck from the vehicle, and emergency medical services provided aid before transporting him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No officers sustained injuries during the incident. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent review of the officer-involved shooting.

Crookston PD were sent to a call about an apparently intoxicated and naked man in the street with a hatchet showing erratic behaviors just after midnight in Crookston. Police arrived, tasered, fired beanbags at the increasingly agitated man and Officer Fladland finally fired at least 12 bullets into his body.

Officer Nick Fladland would go on and shoot and kill Christopher Junkin on July 9, 2024.

On July 9, 2024, the BCA confirmed that multiple bullet wounds had killed Junkin and simultaneously recommended not to charge officer Fladland for this killing. It was known at the time of this recommendation that he had already killed a second person days prior to being cleared. He had been cleared back to work at an unknown time before being cleared by BCA as he was back on duty on June 30, 2024 to kill Christopher Junkin.

On May 16, 2024, at approximately 12:39 a.m., Woodstock Police responded to a domestic incident in the 200 block of Douglas Street near Calhoun Street in Woodstock, Illinois. Upon arrival, officers learned that 25-year-old Fabian Velazquez had discharged a firearm inside the residence before fleeing the scene in a vehicle. Officers spotted Velazquez's vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but he disregarded commands and accelerated southbound on Route 47 at a high rate of speed. Near the intersection of Route 47 and Route 176 in Lakewood, Velazquez lost control of his vehicle, which veered off the road, went airborne, and crashed onto Swanson Road. The vehicle rolled over during the crash. Velazquez was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Northwestern Hospital Huntley, where he died from his injuries. A gun matching the description of the one used in the initial incident was recovered at the crash scene. The McHenry County Major Investigations Assistance Team is investigating the incident.

On May 20, 2024, Baldwin County deputies responded to a false emergency call about an alleged emergency with a description of a vehicle to look for. The responding officer, Sgt. Reid White, was traveling on Kings Road when he spotted Louis Mazzola, 67, who was returning home from work. Sgt. White initiated a traffic stop, activating his lights and siren. Mazzola turned left onto Back in the Woods Way and White attempted to pass Mazzola’s vehicle on the left at high speed. White crashed into Mazzola’s vehicle, causing Mazzola to be ejected. Gravely injured, Mazzola later died from his injuries.

The 24-year-old Jakar Knott continued driving. Officers escalated a high-speed chase into Detroit. The chase continued until Knott's vehicle struck a curb near Outer Drive and Anglin Street, causing the car to flip multiple times. Knott was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the crash site. Warren Police Commissioner Charles Rushton claims that officers had "begun to call off the chase." However, per official records, the officers were still chasing when the fatal crash occurred and were seen at the crash site immediately after the accident. Neighbors were vocal that the chase should not have occurred.

A second officer arrived to assist and located Martinez in a nearby parking lot. Martinez allegedly fired a weapon at the officer, prompting the officer to return fire, striking Martinez. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. The officer involved was uninjured.

Off-duty Pineville PD officer Sgt. Adam Roberts who was moonlighting as store security at Food Lion chased and shot and killed Dennis Bodden for alleged shoplifting. He had been unarmed.

On May 14, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Carroll County Sheriff’s deputies, investigating mail thefts near the 500 block of Little New York Road, attempted to stop 51-year-old Jason Scott Fletcher. When Fletcher refused to stop, deputies escalated the situation by initiating a high-speed pursuit toward Roopville. Deputies called for assistance from the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), and a GSP trooper deployed stop sticks at the intersection of Highway 5 and Banks Circle.

As Fletcher swerved his vehicle toward the trooper in an apparent attempt to strike him, the trooper discharged his firearm, striking Fletcher. Law enforcement transported Fletcher to Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, where he died from his injuries.

Delaware County Police began chasing Yazmyn Stewart for a prior shooting. The chase led into Chester, PA. Stewart fled into a private home and tried to hide, finally taking the resident’s car.
