The Greensboro Police Department notified Carroll County deputies about a man wanted in connection with a shooting in North Carolina. Deputies located the man in a Swift tractor-trailer at the Love’s Travel Stop on Old Pipers Gap Road. During the encounter, the man shot two deputies. Officers opened fire and killed him. Both deputies were hospitalized. The man’s identity has not been released. The incident is under investigation.

Kenneth Edward Bailey, the rapper known as Young Scooter, died on March 28, 2025—his 39th birthday—following a police pursuit in southeast Atlanta. Atlanta Police responded to a report of gunfire and a domestic dispute on William Nye Drive Southeast. As officers arrived, two men ran from the back of the residence. Around 12:30 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers attempted to stop a suspected stolen Infiniti traveling over 100 miles per hour. The driver did not stop. Ontario police attempted to stop a stolen silver Audi. The driver refused to stop. Officers escalated a chase from Ontario into Chino. Clarissa Cano, a 27-year-old mother of a 5-year-old daughter, had just left home to visit her grandmother when the driver ran a red light and slammed into her red car at high speed, pushing both vehicles through a wall. Cano was killed in the crash. She had been caring for her younger siblings after the death of their mother. Her death occurred on her birthday. On March 27, 2025, Tullahoma Police officers attempted to serve an arrest warrant for sexual assault on a minor on 58-year-old Thomas Hackworth at his business on West Lincoln Street. Upon arrival, officers heard gunshots and entered the premises, finding Hackworth deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the roof of his mouth. Evidence indicated that a round had also been fired in the general direction of officers but was stopped when it impacted a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers encountered 54-year-old James E. Walter, who was reportedly firing a gun into the air outside his residence. On March 26, 2025, San Diego Police responded to reports of a man pointing a gun at pest control and construction workers in the Scripps Ranch neighborhood. A 43-year-old man was found unconscious and unresponsive inside a holding cell at Manhattan Criminal Court at 100 Centre Street on the morning of March 26, 2025. He had been arrested hours earlier inside the Times Square subway station. EMS transported him to NewYork-Presbyterian-Lower Manhattan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. On March 23, 2025, Christian Black was arrested by Englewood police after allegedly crashing a stolen vehicle on Interstate 70, following a robbery in Beavercreek. He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail around 6 a.m. On March 24, at approximately 1:50 a.m., jail staff found Black unresponsive in his cell. Upon opening the cell door, Black reportedly leapt up and engaged in a physical altercation with multiple corrections officers and deputies. Staff used a Taser to subdue him, after which he was treated by medical staff and placed in a cell for monitoring. Later that morning, Black allegedly began striking his head against his cell door. Staff intervened, leading to another struggle where pepper spray and a Taser were used before restraining him in a chair. While awaiting medical transport, Black's condition deteriorated, and he went into cardiac arrest. He was pronounced dead at the hospital on March 26. The Dayton Police Department and the Montgomery County Coroner's Office are investigating the incident. Black's family has expressed concerns regarding the circumstances of his death and is conducting their own investigation.

Arkansas State Police chased a white Dodge Ram after the driver, Torkilo Hambrick, failed to stop for a traffic violation near mile marker 173. Police escalated the chase along Interstate 40 at speeds exceeding 120 miles per hour. Near mile marker 191, an Arkansas State Police trooper conducted a PIT maneuver—a tactic known to be potentially lethal at speeds above 35 mph—causing the truck to overturn and crash. Laterrika Woods, the 29-year-old sister of Memphis rapper Big Boogie, was a passenger in the vehicle. She was ejected during the crash and died at the scene. Two other passengers were seriously injured. Experts have long warned that PIT maneuvers at speeds above 35 mph carry an extreme risk of fatality, and at 100+ mph, the probability of a deadly outcome is considered astronomically high.

Louis Michael Hill, 26, of Rogersville, was shot and killed after robbing a PNC Bank in Florence and fleeing in a vehicle. Florence Police and Lauderdale County deputies pursued Hill onto Highway 72. His vehicle became disabled near County Road 323. Hill exited and attempted to carjack another vehicle while armed. He opened fire on police, and officers shot and killed him. A Florence firefighter, Grace McClusky, was struck by gunfire after stopping to assist at the crash. One officer was also injured. Both were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating.

Cedrick Turner, 49, died on March 25, 2025, in a single-vehicle crash during a police chase. Thomas County deputies were pursuing Turner after a hit-and-run incident in Colquitt County. On March 25, 2025, at approximately 11:30 a.m., 53-year-old inmate Michael Anthony Johnson suffered a medical emergency at the Jefferson County Jail in Birmingham, Alabama. Jail medical staff responded immediately, and Johnson was transported to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:10 p.m. Johnson had been booked into the jail on March 21, 2025, on charges of third-degree burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia. On March 24, 2025, at approximately 3 a.m., Michael Rufus Roach allegedly abducted his 6-year-old daughter, Mianna Roach, from her mother's residence in Polkton, North Carolina, after threatening the mother with a gun. Law enforcement issued a "be on the lookout" alert for Roach and the vehicle. Around 8 a.m., Anson County deputies located Roach's vehicle and initiated a pursuit. The chase concluded when Roach crashed off Little Creek Road near Old Winfield Road in Wadesboro. Upon reaching the vehicle, deputies discovered Mianna deceased from a gunshot wound and Roach critically injured from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot. Roach was transported to a hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries on March 27, 2025. Authorities believe Roach shot his daughter during the pursuit before attempting suicide. The incident is under investigation by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.

On March 24, 2025, at approximately 5:30 p.m., custody deputies at the Northern Branch Jail in Santa Maria discovered 57-year-old inmate Caprice Fowler unresponsive in her four-person cell. Despite life-saving efforts, Fowler was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy determined that she died of acute peritonitis due to a ruptured gastric ulcer, and her death was classified as natural causes. Fowler had been in custody since March 19, 2025, following her arrest on a felony no-bail warrant related to firearm and ammunition possession charges, and was subsequently charged with felony animal cruelty on March 21, 2025. The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office is conducting an administrative investigation and will provide information to the Santa Barbara County Grand Jury for independent review.

Deputies from the Stevens County Sheriff's Office attempted to serve a felony arrest warrant on a man at a residence south of Northport. The man exited the home with a weapon. A crisis negotiator responded, but the man fled on foot. Deputies pursued him, fired pepperballs, and continued to issue commands. The man then drew his firearm. Deputies opened fire and killed him. He was transported to a hospital in Colville where he was pronounced dead. The Washington State Patrol is leading the investigation.

On March 23, 2025, Murfreesboro Police responded to a domestic disturbance at a home on Goose Creek Lane. Upon arrival, officers encountered Adam Thomas Peeler, 36, who was armed with a shotgun. He pointed the firearm at officers and made verbal threats. Officers fired at Peeler, who then retreated into the home. Around 7:40 a.m. on March 23, 2025, a juvenile called 911 reporting her mother was being assaulted and kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend, who was armed. The man forced the woman into a Mercedes sedan and drove away from an apartment complex on Oro Vista Road. Officers from the San Diego Police Department pursued the vehicle and deployed spike strips on Tocayo Avenue. After the vehicle stopped, the woman escaped. The man then shot and killed himself in the vehicle as police surrounded the scene.

On March 23, 2025, around 3:47 a.m., Hillsborough County deputies responded to a domestic violence call at a home on Lake Montauk Drive in Riverview. They found a woman outside with visible injuries who said her boyfriend, Manuel Alvarez, was inside armed with a gun. As deputies approached, Alvarez reportedly shouted threats and pointed a firearm at them. Deputy Shawn Swinford opened fire and shot Alvarez twice in the upper torso. On March 23, 2025, San Antonio Police responded to a domestic violence call around 2:15 p.m. at a residence near Tahoka Boulevard and Julia Place. A woman had been assaulted by her boyfriend, Max Dominguez, 27. When the officer arrived, Dominguez partially opened the door but refused entry. The officer pushed the door open, causing Dominguez to fall back on a bed. Dominguez then grabbed a machete and rose toward the officer. The officer opened fire and shot Dominguez, who later died at the hospital. The department confirmed prior incidents at the residence and Dominguez’s past record, which included violent offenses.

McCray was transported to Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. On March 23, 2025, around 2:00 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers pursued a stolen vehicle traveling over 100 miles per hour on Highway 4 in Pittsburg. The driver exited at Railroad Avenue and crashed into a blue SUV that was not involved in the chase. Villamalia Polina Tu'ipulotu, 23, was a passenger in the SUV and died in the collision. Her fiancé, who was driving the SUV, and the suspect were transported to a hospital. The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office is investigating the fatal crash.
