On 09/11/2024, Polk County deputies were dispatched to a domestic disturbance at a home on Rockridge Road and US-98 in Lakeland, where Thomas England, 40, allegedly fired shots at a neighbor’s residence. Lamine Mahmoudi, 34, was fatally shot by Columbus police on September 10, 2024, at 1:30 AM on North High Street, near the University District police substation. On 09/08/2024, 26-year-old Rhyker Earl experienced a seizure at his residence on Bahama Drive in the Island Grove Mobile Home Park, DeMotte, Indiana. His grandmother called 911 for medical assistance. Jasper County Sheriff's deputies and paramedics arrived on the scene.

While in a postictal state—a period of confusion following a seizure—Earl reportedly became agitated. Family members stated that during this state, Earl accidentally bumped into a responder. In response, deputies restrained Earl by pinning him face-down on the floor and handcuffing his hands behind his back. Body camera footage shows Earl pleading for relief, saying, "Grandma, please, make 'em get off of me."

Approximately two minutes after Earl stopped moving, first responders noticed he wasn't breathing. They initiated CPR and transported him to a hospital, where he was placed on life support. Earl died two days later, on 09/10/2024.

n September 7, 2024, at approximately 4:10 p.m., deputies from the Bradford County Sheriff's Office attempted to perform a traffic stop on 43-year-old Justin Hogg. Hogg accelerated, crashed into one of the patrol vehicles, and fled on foot into a nearby pond. Deputies pursued him and jumped into the pond to pull him back to shore. While awaiting medical assistance, Hogg collapsed. He was transported to a local emergency room, where he was pronounced dead.

On September 7, 2024, at approximately 1:18 p.m., Colorado State Patrol Corporal Tye Simcox was parked in the center median of U.S. Highway 36 near Federal Boulevard in Westminster, Colorado, completing paperwork in his marked patrol vehicle. A black Chevrolet pickup truck, driven by 32-year-old Victor "Spider" Anthony De Santiago, approached and fired multiple rounds from a semi-automatic handgun into the patrol car, striking Corporal Simcox in the lower right arm.

De Santiago then pulled over to the shoulder, exited his vehicle, and continued firing at the patrol car. Corporal Simcox retrieved his department-issued rifle, returned fire, and fatally shot De Santiago. After the exchange, Corporal Simcox applied a tourniquet to his wounded arm and awaited assistance.

Corporal Simcox was transported to Denver Health Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries and was released later that day. De Santiago was pronounced dead at the scene.

Collierville PD traffic-stopped a vehicle and discovered a passenger was wanted for previous domestic violence. A woman who was driving was removed from the vehicle. K9 officers approached and the male passenger jumped into the driver’s seat and attempted to get away from police. He ran into a patrol car and crashed and died.

Thurston police received a call that a woman had shown up at someone’s residence and demanded fentanyl. Police were called and located the woman who was allegedly driving with a flat tire in a stolen vehicle. Police chased the vehicle and placed spike strips which flattened the second tire on her right side, causing her to swerve into head on traffic where she crashed into a bystander and killed a person in that vehicle. The chase was allegedly initiated for a failed attempt to procure fentanyl and driving erratically with a flat tire. This is one of several police pursuit fatalities that have occurred since Washington’s governor Jay Insleee eviscerated a previous band on police pursuits in 2023, leading to Washington police chasing and causing fatal accidents again.

On September 7, 2024, at approximately 2:14 p.m., Newton County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to reports of a shooting at the Salem Glen Apartments on Salem Glen Way in Conyers, Georgia. Upon arrival, deputies encountered an off-duty Rockdale County Sheriff's Office deputy who had discharged his firearm, fatally wounding 20-year-old Ivan Felton of Covington, Georgia.

According to multiple witnesses, Felton was observed firing shots at a resident of the apartment complex and pursuing the individual. The off-duty deputy, who resides in the area, witnessed Felton chasing the resident and intervened by shooting Felton. Felton was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is conducting an independent investigation into the incident at the request of the Newton County Sheriff's Office. Upon completion, the case file will be submitted to the Newton County District Attorney’s Office (Alcovy Judicial Circuit) for review. The identities of the involved officers have not been disclosed.

On September 7, 2024, at approximately 1:37 a.m., a Rome Police Department officer observed a black Dodge Charger speeding eastbound after turning from Lavender Drive onto Shorter Avenue. The officer initiated a pursuit but allegedly discontinued due to the Charger's excessive speed, which exceeded 90 miles per hour. A BOLO (be on the lookout) was issued to nearby units.

Another officer traveling south on Riverside Parkway spotted the Charger still speeding eastbound on Turner McCall Boulevard. The officer attempted to join the chase when the Charger collided head-on with a Honda Accord near Dogwood Drive.

The collision resulted in the deaths of 23-year-old driver Kadrian Lamirical Harris and her front-seat passenger, 23-year-old Malik Christyle Henderson. Harris's one-year-old daughter, Riley Harris, sustained critical injuries, was transported to a local hospital, and survived.

The Rome Police Department is conducting an investigation into the incident. The identities of the involved officers have not been disclosed.
