He had only a pellet gun on him and was functionally unarmed when officer Roch Gruszeczka shot and killed him.

Police say Williams’ bike was unregistered, and they claim that he was driving recklessly when he collided with an unmarked cruiser on the University Heights Bridge. It turned out that the cruiser crossed over into oncoming traffic to deliberately hit him. On Sunday, May 28, O'Fallon and Fairview Heights PDs tried to stop a car that was wanted for a prior offense. The traffic stop was at the intersection of U.S. Highway 50 and Old Collinsville Road. The person vacated the car and fled from police with a loaded gun. They fired at police as they fled, and officers shot back.The man made it another 100 yards before he was discovered to have committed suicide under police duress.No officers were charged.
