On July 6, 2024, at approximately 2:45 a.m., a Big Lake Police Department officer observed a BMW sedan traveling northbound on Highway 25 near Tarrytown Road at a speed exceeding the posted limit. The officer executed a U-turn to initiate a traffic stop for the speeding violation. Upon approaching the intersection of Highway 25 and Pleasant Avenue, the officer discovered that the BMW had departed the roadway to the right and overturned. The vehicle's occupants, all 17-year-old males from Elk River, Minnesota, were identified as follows: Driver: Anthony Scott Krider (deceased), Front Passenger: Donovan Paul Gobel (deceased), Rear Passenger: Charles Walter Gabrelcik (sustained life-threatening injuries)
