The driver failed to stop and fled westbound on U.S. Route 50, prompting a police pursuit. The vehicle sped into Southeast Washington, D.C., where it crashed into a tree in the 4100 block of Southern Avenue SE. The crash caused the vehicle to burst into flames, killing the driver and a passenger.
