On 08/29/2024, shortly before 9 p.m., Chandler Police Department officers responded to a home near Alma School and Elliot roads after a family member called police concerning Brandon Evans, 32, who was experiencing a suicidal crisis. The caller reported that Evans had made suicidal statements and had fired a gun in an alley behind the residence.

Before officers arrived, the family member told police that the firearm Evans had fired outside had been taken away from him. The family member then invited officers into the garage, where Evans was with another family member.
