On 08/28/2024, Harvard Police attempted a traffic stop on Oskar Hernandez Martinez Jr. in the 1500 block of North Division Street for a stop sign violation. Martinez did not stop. Police escalated a high-speed chase through the area, pursuing the vehicle until it crashed into a pole and rolled over. The crash resulted in the death of Martinez at the scene.
