OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 08/28/2024, at approximately 9:30 a.m., Liberty County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence off Old Hines Road in Flemington after a 911 caller requested police assistance for a domestic disturbance. Deputies encountered Andre Deon Haggray, 30, in the backyard of the residence.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Haggray pulled out a handgun after deputies encountered him. A deputy fired at Haggray, who then went into woods behind the residence. Deputies followed him into the wooded area.

The GBI alleged that Haggray and deputies exchanged gunfire during the encounter in the woods. Haggray subsequently reached a nearby dirt road, where he encountered additional Liberty County deputies. The GBI alleged that Haggray raised a hand while holding the gun, and deputies fired at him, striking him.

Haggray was transported to Liberty Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Pooler conducted the autopsy. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation conducted the independent investigation, with the completed case designated for submission to the Atlantic Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review.

Haggray was born on 08/20/1994 in Clarksville, Tennessee. His family moved to Hinesville in 2000, and he graduated from Liberty County High School in 2013, where he participated in football and track. He later attended Columbia College before moving to Minnesota, where he trained and worked as a heavy-equipment operator. He eventually returned to Hinesville and continued pursuing his interest in writing and performing music.

Haggray was survived by his parents, Gerald Kenneth Haggray Sr. and Patricia Haggray, three siblings, extended family and his girlfriend, Emonny McNeal. His funeral was held on 09/07/2024 at Baconton Missionary Baptist Church in Allenhurst, followed by burial in the church cemetery.
