On 08/27/2024, shortly before 6 a.m., Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents went to the Merida Apartments near Northeast Loop 410 and Starcrest Drive in San Antonio to execute a federal arrest warrant for Sina Chohili Sobby, 22.

ATF described the warrant as a court-authorized “knock and announce” federal arrest warrant. The agency did not publicly disclose the underlying charge or investigation for which agents were seeking to arrest Sobby.

Neighbors reported being awakened by the operation. One resident described hearing shouting followed by an electronic beep and two loud explosive sounds. ATF agents then made contact with Sobby during the warrant operation.
