OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 08/12/2024, at approximately 7:00 p.m., Warner Robins Police Department officers responded to the 200 block of North Sixth Street after receiving reports of a man with a gun. Officers encountered 20-year-old Mikhal Anthony Concepcion of Byron, Georgia. According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Concepcion fired at responding officers, fired additional shots into a nearby residence, and attempted to force his way into the home. Officers returned fire, striking Concepcion. He was transported to Houston Healthcare–Warner Robins, where he was pronounced dead. No officers were injured.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation conducted the independent investigation at the request of the Warner Robins Police Department. Concepcion's body was taken to the GBI Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy, and the completed investigative file was to be submitted to the Houston County District Attorney's Office for review.
Concepcion's family publicly questioned the shooting and called for greater transparency regarding the officers' actions. The case drew local attention as another fatal police shooting in Georgia during 2024. Public reporting through 2026 located no criminal charges against the involved officers, no publicly announced disciplinary action, and no publicly reported civil settlement arising from the shooting.
