On 08/11/2024, Delhi Police Department officers observed 47-year-old Rodrick Edmond in a parking lot and instructed him to stop. Edmond drove away, and police escalated a chase ending in the 7200 block of Highway 17. Edmond exited the vehicle holding a knife.

Police engaged Edmond in an altercation, during which officers opened fire, killing him. Edmond was pronounced deceased on the highway. The Louisiana State Police is investigating the incident.
