OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On August 11, 2024, at approximately 12:31 p.m., Long Beach Police Department officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at a residence on Kuyrkendall Place in Long Beach, Mississippi. Upon arrival, officers encountered 43-year-old Justin Brown, who allegedly fired at them. Officers returned fire, prompting Brown to retreat and barricade himself inside the home. Family members present were able to exit the residence safely.

The standoff lasted nearly four hours, during which law enforcement made multiple attempts to contact Brown. SWAT teams from Biloxi, Gulfport, and Harrison County, along with other agencies, assisted in the operation. Eventually, officers entered the residence and found Brown deceased. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is conducting an inquiry into the incident.
