OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 08/08/2024, at approximately 8:41 a.m., members of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force went to a residence on County Road 101 near Glennonville to serve a federal arrest warrant stemming from a federal indictment for distribution of methamphetamine. As task force members attempted to take the man into custody, authorities reported that he armed himself with a firearm and pointed it at members of the task force.
One member of the task force fired, striking the man. Officers secured the scene, but the man died from his injuries. No law enforcement officers were injured during the incident. The U.S. Marshals Service did not identify the officer who fired or disclose the agency employing that officer, stating only that the shooter was a task force member. The officer was placed on paid administrative leave in accordance with departmental policy.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control assumed responsibility for the independent investigation at the request of the Dunklin County Sheriff's Office and the Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney. Investigators stated that the completed case would be forwarded to the prosecutor for review.
