On September 16, 2024, at approximately 9:30 a.m., the Olive Branch Police Department's SWAT team attempted to serve an arrest warrant at 9142 Railroad Avenue in Olive Branch, Mississippi. The warrant was for 59-year-old Mark Miller, who had recently moved to Olive Branch and was wanted on two counts of possession of child pornography.

Upon arrival, officers encountered Miller, who allegedly opened fire on them. Officers returned fire, resulting in Miller's death at the scene.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation was called to investigate. The findings will be shared with the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office for review.
