On 08/23/2022, a Port Fourchon Harbor Police Department officer shot and killed 32-year-old Geraldo Reyes at a residence in the 200 block of West 133rd Street in Cut Off after Lafourche Parish sheriff’s deputies and Harbor Police responded to a reported domestic disturbance involving an armed person. Louisiana State Police reported that the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office received the call at approximately noon.

The woman who reported the domestic disturbance had left the residence before law enforcement arrived. Deputies from the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office and an officer from the Port Fourchon Harbor Police Department then approached the residence.

According to Louisiana State Police, Reyes fired at the responding deputies and Harbor Police officer from the residence. A Port Fourchon Harbor Police officer returned fire with his service weapon and struck Reyes.
