On 10/08/2024, deputies from the White County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance at a local liquor store in Monon, Indiana, involving an allegedly intoxicated man. Upon arrival, deputies learned the man had left on foot and fled to a nearby residence on State Road 16.

At the residence, deputies encountered the man, who allegedly had a knife. The man allegedly advanced toward the deputies. At least one deputy opened fire, striking the man.

The man was transported to a hospital in Monticello, where he was later pronounced deceased. The Indiana State Police Criminal Investigation Division is conducting an active investigation. Upon completion, the case will be submitted to the White County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
