On 10/21/2024, deputies from the Steuben County Sheriff's Office responded to a welfare check on Angel Road in Cameron, New York, following family concerns about Allen V. Hoad II. Upon arrival, Hoad reportedly shot at deputies, damaging two patrol vehicles. This initiated a 15-hour standoff involving crisis negotiators and the SWAT team. Despite prolonged negotiations, Hoad made threats of mass violence and attempted to flee in a vehicle containing multiple firearms. While evading a police barricade, he collided with a patrol car and drove towards deputies, prompting officers to fire. Hoad was apprehended after resisting arrest and received immediate medical attention but was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Multiple agencies assisted in the incident.
