On November 2, 2024, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Michigan State Police troopers encountered 17-year-old Rayvon Shahid near Essex Street and Pasadena Avenue in Flint. According to police reports, Shahid was armed and fled on foot. Troopers pursued him and deployed a taser, which was ineffective. Subsequently, Shahid was shot at least seven times and later pronounced dead at a local hospital. A loaded Glock pistol with an extended magazine was recovered from the scene.
