OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On November 3, 2024, at approximately 9:30 a.m., the Saint Joseph County Sheriff's Office attempted to stop a driver who drove away from a traffic stop. Police escalated a chase to over 100 mph as the vehicle drove north on Sevison Road. Due to pursuit speeds, the driver lost control, crossed the centerline, and collided head-on with a southbound pickup truck. The driver of the pickup, 60-year-old Ronda Arndt, and her husband, 51-year-old Shawn Arndt, both of Constantine, were pronounced dead at the scene. The fleeing driver sustained injuries.

The Saint Joseph County Sheriff's Office is conducting a self-investigation into the incident.
