On November 14, 2024, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a domestic disturbance at a residence near Hillhurst Drive and Ashfield in Carmichael, California. The individual, identified as 24-year-old Israel Price, who was a security guard, had reportedly fired a gun during an argument. After the disturbance, Price retreated to the residence, leading to a prolonged SWAT standoff.

The SWAT team, equipped with ballistic helmets, vests, and shields, arrived at the scene. They were armed with assault rifles and less-lethal options and used armored vehicles and tactical entry tools to secure the perimeter. Authorities also cordoned off nearby streets and evacuated the neighborhood for safety.

Negotiators attempted to de-escalate the situation, but Price reportedly fired his weapon at deputies. SWAT officers responded by returning fire, fatally wounding Price.
