OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On November 17, 2024, at approximately 9:22 PM, the Winston-Salem Police Department responded to a reported break-in at a residence on the 3800 block of Queen Anne Circle. Upon arrival, officers heard gunshots from within the home and proceeded to evacuate the occupants. As officers engaged with the situation, Michael Preston-Robinson II exited the house with a firearm, leading to a confrontation in which he was shot and killed by police. Inside the house, officers found another individual, Chrishawn Tyquese Watson, also deceased from a gunshot wound. Two juveniles present in the home were uninjured. Robinson was reportedly known to one of the residents and was out on bond at the time for prior charges. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) is overseeing the independent investigation into the incident, while the involved officer will undergo a critical incident debrief.
