On November 18, 2024, in South St. Paul, Minnesota (Dakota County), a police chase led to a fatal crash on eastbound I-494. West St. Paul police initiated the pursuit after a traffic stop near Robert Street and Marie Avenue. The fleeing vehicle, a Chevy Malibu driven by a 39-year-old Hastings woman named Elisa Rae Norton struck the rear of a semi-truck at high speed. The driver of the semi was unharmed. The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating. No bystander videos or family statements have been reported yet.
