On 11/25/2024, Stanislaus County deputies initiated a pursuit in Modesto to apprehend a 40-year-old man wanted for assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence, and other charges. Police escalated the chase after the individual drove away from an attempted stop near Crows Landing Road and Boulder Avenue. The pursuit ended with the man colliding with another vehicle at Crows Landing Road and South 7th Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Three occupants of the other vehicle—a man, a woman, and a child—sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to hospitals for treatment. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is investigating the incident.
