On 11/25/2024, deputies from the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to an incident on Scallan Street near Martin Luther King Drive in Marksville, Louisiana. Howard Williams, an 18-year-old man, was shot by a deputy during the encounter. Preliminary reports from investigators indicate a firearm was located near Williams at the scene. Following the shooting, Williams was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, where he died the next day. The Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations is handling the investigation into the circumstances of the shooting.
