On 11/29/2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m., North Charleston Police Department (NCPD) officers responded to reports of an armed individual causing a disturbance near Cherokee Street and Rivers Avenue. Upon arrival, officers encountered a male individual holding a firearm. Police alleged that he raised the weapon toward them. Multiple officers fired shots, striking the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is investigating the shooting. The involved officers have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
