On 11/27/2024, McKinney Police Department (MPD) responded to reports of gunfire at an apartment complex in the 3300 block of N McDonald Street. A 19-year-old male approached a dark gray Dodge Ram pickup truck parked at the complex, leading to a shootout between him and a 20-year-old male passenger. Both sustained critical injuries from the shooting and were transported to Medical City McKinney. The 19-year-old died from his injuries.

Shortly after the shooting, the Dodge Ram fled the scene and was chased by police when officers saw the vehicle near the hospital and escalated a chase. The driver fled at speeds exceeding 80 mph, leading officers on a chase that ended at a car dealership in Richardson, Texas. The man fled on foot and was apprehended.
