On 11/28/2024, the Arlington Police Department (APD) responded to a welfare check at a hotel located at 1600 East Lamar Boulevard in Arlington, Texas. Police were informed about a man reportedly armed with a knife in a hotel room. Officers attempted to engage the man, but according to APD, he advanced toward them while still holding the knife. Officers fired their weapons, striking and killing the man. Medical personnel on the scene confirmed his death. APD stated that the officers involved have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation. The Tarrant County District Attorney's Office is leading the investigation into the shooting.
