On 12/01/2024, at approximately 2:30 a.m., a Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officer was driving an unmarked police cruiser near the intersection of Columbia Road and 14th Street NW. The police vehicle collided with a scooter operated by a 28-year-old man. The collision ejected the man from the scooter. Emergency medical services transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
